Finding a Christian counselor who understands your particular perspective can be a challenge. Especially when confronting issues like depression, anxiety, and sexuality, easy answers are often thrown at us as we try to navigate these very complex issues.
If you are looking for a non-judgmental ear who will understand the tenets of your faith, but is also open-minded enough to not drive you toward an answer that does not make sense or fit with your experience, then look no further. I am very ecumenical, and have deep understanding of many traditions including, Catholic, Mainline denominations, Pentecostal, and Evangelical.
Before working at BetterHelp, I was a therapist with refugee teens and young adults helping them cope with past trauma and adapting to major life change.
As a husband, and as a father of a young daughter, I have many diverse life experiences that give me perspective on many of the challenges facing young people today. Of interest to me are issues of depression and anxiety as well as struggles surrounding tech use and addiction. Not only have I studied this issue in depth, but I have also published in a top social science journal on mobile phones and education.
Currently, I am working on a PhD in evaluation. This field is focused on determining the effectiveness of treatments and interventions. I am equipped to chart a course of treatment based on the most cutting-edge therapies, and to course-correct when you need something different. I love working with each person to find what is right for them.
As a therapist, I am very client-centered. You will help me set the goals that you want to work on. I am very solution-focused, wanting to figure out what works for my clients. I love existential theory -- How do we create meaning during our short time here on Earth?
I look forward to welcoming you into the sacred space between client and therapist. I invite you to come as you are.

Aaron has been exceptional. I am so thankful that I was matched to him when going through this way too hard journey in my own life right now. Aaron actually reads the messages I send and responds to all of the points I bring up and is really good about keeping our meetings on track. He also responds super fast which I so appreciate, I don't always have time for a phone call so being able to message back and forth about what is going on and asking for strategies has been so amazing. He genuinely seems to care about what is going on in my life and gives me hope that I can change. How awesome is that? Also, he does bring in hope from the Bible as well, I have found this absolutely invaluable. It is spot on and contextually appropriate. I think Aaron is a really strong asset to the Faithful Counseling team.
