Here is a bit about my faith background: I grew up in a Christian home, but didn't really understand the depth of God's love and grace for me personally until I was in my early 20's. (of course, that understanding is not by any means complete and is still continually expanding and growing!) At that point, I experienced a kind of "re-birth" as I realized anew that I didn't have to perform for God at all, that He loved and accepted me just as I was. That year began a healing journey for me that continues to this day. I now have a passion to help others experience the unconditional love and acceptance of God, in a way that brings freedom, growth, and healing.
I believe that God is love, and that perfect loves drives away all fear from our hearts. Most Christians (and devoted followers of other faiths) mean well and have good intentions, but often their own brokenness distorts their view of God, which then gets passed down to others. Because our personal narratives affect both our view of God and our view of self, part of my work with clients involves helping them unpack that, recognizing the lies and distortions that may be present, and replacing those lies with the truths that set us free. This is far more than a cognitive process, however. It involves helping my clients find ways to EXPERIENCE the truth of God's love for themselves. This is a Spirit-led journey and looks different for each client, but can include practicing certain spiritual disciplines, cultivating relationships with loving and caring people who reflect God's love to you more fully, and interacting with a caring therapist (such as myself) who reinforces the truths you need to hear about God and yourself within a relationship. In my counseling practice, I seek to rely on the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance in each session. I am happy to pray with you or to provide space for silent listening and reflection, if that would feel helpful for you. Above all, I strive to listen carefully to what you need and to honor your preferences and personal inclinations for how you seek and experience God. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and wherever you go, I wish for God's peace to be with you.

I don’t typically work well with female counselors, but Amber has been great. She is very straightforward and clear with goals and you can really see how much she cares for your situation and the things you struggle with. I think after all is said and done, she’s worth you giving her a chance! :)
I was skeptical about counseling but Amber understood my skepticism and put my mind at ease. She also has a wealth of resources that I can use to aide in my search for relief from my grief.
