Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. My name is Amie and I am very happy that you've reached out.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in NY with over 11 years of experience in the field. I graduated from SUNY Stonybrook in 2007 with my Masters Degree in Social Work, and worked with the agencies supporting the homeless population, as well as children with emotional and behavioral issues, until opening my private practice in 2012. In my practice I have supported clients struggling with issues ranging from depression and anxiety, to grief counseling, family and adoption issues, as well as couples and relationship counseling.
I believe that therapy is not a one size fits all "cookie cutter" thing. Not everybody's issues are the same, so my therapeutic approach should be different as well. My approach is very client centered and goal oriented, for this reason, it's very important for me to get feedback on whats working for you, and whats not.
In my personal life, I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 21 years, and we have boy/girl twins who are 16. In my spare time, and enjoy reading, doing yoga, and spending time with friends. I was brought up Christian, and continue to practice the christian faith, so I am able to provide that experience into my therapeutic practice.
If you feel like now is the right time to work through whatever has been holding you back, and start reaching toward your goals, I'm happy to help!

We have only had two exchanges in the time that i have had her as my counselor. But in those brief conversations she has managed to deliver calm and sympathy via her text responses. Unlike other experiences I have had with counseling I feel like our conversations would be productive.
Very compassionate and non judgmental.
Amie is easy to talk to. She gives quick, short simple feed back that is easily digestible. She is understanding, you can feel how genuine she is during your interactions.
Amie has been helpful to me. Being my first time doing counseling, she is so open and helpful when I was at first a bit shy to share. Now I open up and she validates, supports, and listens.
She has helped me so much. I’m grateful for coming across this website. Amie listens to me and helps me to understand. She also makes me seeing things in another point of view.
