Hi! My name is Ashleigh. I am a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor in the state of Ohio (and soon to be licensed in Florida). I have over 13 years experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I also have worked with couples and families in individual and group counseling settings. I have worked in private practice, school, crisis center, and hospital settings. I have the most counseling experience in areas of grief/loss, depression, eating disorders, anxiety, family therapy and stress management.
My style of counseling is a client centered and solution-focused. I believe in providing a safe environment as a way to encourage open communication. I will walk alongside my clients to help empower them to help themselves feel better, find hope, and reach goals.
I am a Christian and while the majority of my counseling career has been spent working for secular counseling organizations, I have always put great value in exploring one's spirituality. As a Christian, I rely on God daily. At the initiation of my clients, I welcome the opportunity to explore one's relationship with Christ Jesus as it relates to their mental well-being.
Here is some personal information about me: I have been married for 14 years and we have 2 young children. I was born and raised in small town Ohio, but our family recently moved to Florida for my husband's career. I wanted to become a counselor after the experience I had in counseling during college. As a freshman, I had an extremely difficult time coping with being away from my family and the added pressure of school, working, and being an athlete. I became anxious, withdrawn, lost my appetite, and could not sleep. My counselor helped me overcome my anxiety and improve my health and refocus. Today I cope with stress through exercise, finding time to do something I enjoy, and talking openly with my spouse and closest friends.
I have decided to enter the world of online counseling because I think it is a great option for those with busy schedules, lack of transportation, a transient life-style, or those who feel more comfortable emailing, texting, or chatting virtually.
I would be honored to help you establish and reach your goals to create a healthier you!
