About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and board approved supervisor (LPC-S), governed by the LOUISIANA Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners #3997. I earned a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2002. I have been licensed since 2007. I enjoy working with all age groups from age 2-elderly clients. I am comfortable working in individual settings and group settings. I have received continuing education in telehealth (ecounseling). The conditions I have the most experience in treating include depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, relationship/family issues, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD/ADD, OCD, eating disorder, PTSD, childhood and adult trauma, comorbid health conditions, and various addictions. As a parent of 3 children, I am able to empathize with struggles of today's unique generation of parents. I am a christian and enjoy including faith-based therapy if you are okay with that.
My therapeutic approach would best be described as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with "a touch of Solution Focused Therapy." CBT is powerful in creating newer, positive thought patterns that can change your life. I am an experienced CBT therapist. I often give homework assignments often worksheets that BetterHelp provides designed to reinforce techniques taught in sessions, so that you can generalized these skills more quickly and easily so that you may not need me forever. My therapy is strength based, unlocking your own potential!
As a disclaimer, I must tell you that I CAN and WILL break confidentiality in the following situations: abuse or neglect to child, abuse or neglect to elder, suicidal or homocidal, and I also have duty to warn. I uphold the ethics set in the LA LPC Board of Examiners code of ethics. In addition, when counseling children or teens, I reserve the right to inform the guardian if I think their is danger to their child. Before breaking confidentiality in the latter circumstance, I uphold my duty to consult with another professional unless their is immediate danger.
Therapy is not a sign of weakness! It is a sign of STRENGTH. Let me help you build on your strengths to assist you in becoming a healthier you! Thank you for reading about me and BLESS you during your times of struggle.

Ashley was wonderful! She was very consistent and communicative. Very approachable and responsive to my needs. With her I was able to break things down simply and openly. I appreciated her assistance deeply.

I feel that Ashley does a great job with letting me one up in my own way and time. She never steers me to what she thinks I should do. She takes the time to let it come from the inside.

I think that Ashley is a wonderful counselor. She's very attentive and an active listener. Her feedback is always welcome and her support is awesome. I've been in counseling before, and only one other counselor I've had has a similar mindset to Ashley's.
