About Me

If you're reading this right now, it is likely because life has gotten hard. Maybe you feel exhausted, confused, anxious, depressed, etc... And maybe you even feel like there is no hope that things can get better or that you'll ever be happy again.

Things CAN get better. Healing DOES happen.

My name is Beverly Furstenberg and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri. I have been in the field for over 9 years now. I have worked with various populations over the years with a wide variety of concerns, ranging from psychiatric conditions, to addictions, trauma, homelessness and even domestic violence. I have obtained advanced training in the treatment of trauma. I have been providing counseling services exclusively with BetterHelp since April 2020.

Plain and simple, God is the "why" in why I became a counselor. God has provided healing in my own life and I speak from personal experience when I say that life can get better and that healing really does happen. I won't pretend to have all the answers, but I will do all I can in helping you to better understand the events in your life and to cope with whatever distress the storms in your life may bring. I love referring to the Bible as there is an endless amount of wisdom in the best Book ever written. I am happy to meet you where you are spiritually and I will NEVER impose my own beliefs upon you or judge you for yours. We can start/end sessions in prayer if you are open to this.

My counseling style is warm, empathetic and interactive. I believe that my clients are the experts of their own lives, and it is my honor to help them find the options, skills and perspectives that can empower them to make changes, to heal and to live their best lives. My approach combines a strengths-based perspective with solution-focused brief therapy, humanistic and cognitive behavioral therapy. I individualize my approach with each client to ensure their concerns, needs and goals are met.

For therapy to be effective, rapport must first be established between the client and counselor. I take the therapeutic relationships I build with each client seriously and I am always open to feedback from my clients, regarding the sessions, what they find to be helpful/unhelpful, progress, switching counselors, questions, etc. I encourage honesty and transparency as this will help to improve rapport and strengthen the therapeutic alliance. I strongly believe in having and maintaining appropriate boundaries within the therapeutic alliance between clients and I.

Therapy doesn't have to take a lot of your time to be helpful! I offer 30 minute and 45 minute sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the hours of 10a - 3p CST. I am accessible through the messaging feature 24/7 and I typically respond within 24 hours at the latest, excluding weekends and holidays. I offer live video and phone sessions.

It takes courage to seek help and a willingness to make changes that pave the way to a happier, more fulfilling life. We will work together as a team to address and work on what is most important to you. You don't have to do this alone.

I look forward to getting to know you and serving you!
