In therapy with me, every single part of you is welcome. Our therapy sessions are a place for you to lay your burdens down and be refreshed and renewed. It's likely we will laugh a lot, and we may also cry. Each of us is different and multifaceted. I'm interested in seeing the real you shine and in helping you see it too.
Life's problems, including mental health issues, are real, common, and treatable. Good therapy coupled with God’s Grace can transform hard places and roadblocks into circumstances that can be addressed and moved through and beyond. You can live your very best life; the life God created you for. You can grow and flourish. You can get better and stay better. No matter what you're facing, there's a way for you. You're not the one person who has to stay stuck. There's help, hope and healing ahead. Good therapy works!
As a seasoned therapist, I've worked with people from all walks of life facing all kinds of troubles. I know that good therapy works powerfully to bring transformative growth. I've witnessed God's power and grace restore hearts, minds, and relationships. In my own life, God has restored joy and purpose from pain. I'd be so honored to help you find that as well. Overwhelming victory is yours, let me help you step into it.
If you’d like to know about my education, experience, and theoretical approach, here’s the scoop: I entered the mental health field in 1994 and, in 1998, I obtained licensure from the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling to be a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). In 2022, I became registered with the Florida Department of Health as an Out-of-State Telehealth Provider.
I have three degrees in the behavioral sciences obtained from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB): a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and an Ed.S in Counseling. I currently operate a private counseling practice serving people with a broad range of difficulties, including: stress, anxiety, depression, relationship troubles, grief, trauma, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, caregiving issues, and other life challenges. Prior to private work, I practiced in school-based and mental health settings providing counseling and psychological testing for children, teens, adults, and families.
In my career I’ve served on professional counseling boards and presented at professional counseling conferences. I’ve designed multiple therapeutic intervention programs for public K-12 schools and have written grants to fund them. At UAB I’ve served on the Master’s in Counseling program admissions committee, co-taught master’s level counseling classes, helped develop the Community Counseling Clinic and presented at continuing education events for other LPCs. I’ve obtained post-graduate certification in Psychometry (psychological testing and assessment) at UAB and I’ve taken master’s level Seminary classes in Biblical Counseling. I am currently pursuing advanced certification in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) at the internationally acclaimed Beck Institute in Philadelphia. I’m a mental health blogger and speaker. I’m a member of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies and the American Counseling Association. I’m on Alabama‘s leadership team for Moms in Prayer International. I will always go the extra mile to keep learning and serving because I know good therapy works.
I use two primary treatment modalities, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and biblical counseling, to treat a broad range of difficulties. I care deeply about providing the best possible therapy for my clients and find that using CBT in combination with biblical counseling provides a powerful combination: the best behavioral medicine and the limitless power of Christ.
Why CBT? According to the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, “CBT is a highly researched treatment that has gathered more evidence in support of it than any other form of psychotherapy, and, as a result, has been argued to be the gold standard of psychotherapy.”
Why biblical counseling? David Powlison, former Senior Editor of the Journal of Christian Counseling, says it best, “nothing compares to scripture in making sense of the troubles and struggles of life.”

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Beverly Ward. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Faithful Counseling might be different.
Beverly is very professional and listens to my concerns and gives me sound advice.
Beverly Ward is very professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and is a Christian. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She is a blessing , an asset to faithful counseling.
She worked with me where I was and took my hand to lead me where I wanted to go. She is awesome in her approach and listened to what I was saying and responded with proper application to my situation. Awesome work!
Beverly is an excellent source of therapy. I don’t feel like she just repeats back what I say but that she listens and empathizes with my concerns and burdens. I never feel rushed or judged. I’m very thankful I found this site and my therapist.
Beverly really tries to help you. She is attentive, and I like her counseling from both scientific and Biblical perspectives.
So far I am really appreciating the patient, caring and Christ centered help to unpack some of my burdens. This is my first time in therapy but Beverly has made it an easy transition to getting help.
Beverly is acting, skilled, and extremely knowledgeable. I chose her because she connects God's word with her profession. She listens and she offers very wise, practical advice and solutions in a very warm kind way.
Beverly is an excellent therapist. She listens, but she also gives useful feedback. I’ve had both the counselors who spoke the whole time and made me wonder “who is in therapy?” And the ones that made me wonder if they were listening to me or just letting me talk. I feel a good connection with Beverly.
