About me

It is an honor to work with people as a Therapist. Every person in therapy should be made: 1) to feel understood; 2) to feel appreciated; 3) to be given the benefit of the doubt; 4) to be treated as an equal; 5) to be treated respectfully; 6) to have the freedom to decide. My primary goal as a counselor is to allow you to express your thoughts and feelings so that you can gain a greater understanding of yourself and situation. As a result you will gain insight into what you want to change and how to change it. In addition to exploring feelings and thoughts, I will suggest things that may help. Some of the struggles I help people through include anger, depression, anxiety, grief, codependency, relationship and spiritual issues.

I have a M.S. in Family Therapy and have been practicing as a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist for 11 years. Although I am a Marital and Family Therapist, I also work with individuals. The primary models of therapy I use are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Bowen's Differentiation of self. CBT helps to identify ways to think more accurately which can greatly reduce anxiety, depression and other symptoms. Bowen's Differentiation of self helps one to develop a healthy sense of self apart from others and healthy relationships. Another emphasis of mine to to help people become healthy emotionally, mentally and physically. I have found that people improve as they work in these areas.

Your time is very important, so we should spend it on the issues that are most important to you. We will set goals and work on them together. I would love the opportunity to work with you.

I really enjoy my interactions with Brent Ferris. I’m normally more comfortable with female counselors, but after having not matched well with a few on this site I decided to give Brent a shot. He’s very attentive, l and I feel like we are on the same team tackling my mental health issues together. He provides actionable recommendations without being formulaic and responds with empathy. I highly recommend Brent. He has figured out how to use this type of therapy medium very effectively.
