I was born and raised in a conservative Christian family and religion has been a part of my life, in varying degrees, throughout my adulthood. I am comfortable incorporating faith and religion into sessions at a level you are desiring. In addition to my counseling degrees, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Theology and have been trained on a wide variety of religions and belief systems.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) in Colorado with over 10 years of experience. I have worked with a wide variety clients throughout my career to include those struggling with parenting concerns, those diagnosed with a mental illness, those struggling with a substance addiction and those facing incarceration. Although most of my work has been in a secular setting, I have had the opportunity of incorporating faith and religion into sessions as clients have allowed. I do not believe that we have to share the exact same worldview to be a good fit for counseling sessions.
I believe that you are the expert on you. I will walk alongside you as you embark on this journey of change. I see the role of a counselor to encourage and empower you towards change. I will offer you tools, a listening ear, will ask you questions and will challenge your thinking patterns. My approach combines cognitive behavioral, strength based, and solution focused counseling. With that, I am able to customize our work together to meet you where you are and help move you towards your goals.
I am proud of you for taking the first step in this journey. Reaching out for help can often be scary and overwhelming but you did it. I have hope that this is the start of something great for you.

She is very helpful. I appreciate her perspective.
The last thing I wanted to feel was judgement. I already felt so vulnerable reaching out. Cathleen comes off humble and sincere. I feel very comfortable with her.
I am very happy and feel hope in my situation after being assigned Cathleen Owens as a counselor!!
