I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years experience. I received Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord at the age of 25 and chose to pursue my Master's Degree at a Christian University because I knew that I did not want to just be a therapist who happened to be a Christian, but I deeply desired to learn how to incorporate my newfound faith into my counseling! I did not grow up in a Christian home, yet was somehow always interested in learning about God even at a very young age. However, without anyone to take me to church or teach me about Jesus, I did not come to know the Lord until I was grown. Having lived 25 years without Him in my life, and now 30 years as a believer, I can personally testify that life with Jesus is so much better than life without Him! I enjoy working with those who have a strong faith in God, those who may be struggling in their faith and those who have never been introduced to Jesus but who may benefit from learning about Him.
I believe that God has equipped me to help others see how very practical He is and how much He wants to help each of us live a successful and victorious life. When appropriate, I love to share scriptures that apply to client's individual situations and help them learn how they can receive God's help in their time of need. I believe that God has taught me how to learn important principles from my own personal struggles and has given me the gift of teaching so that I can pass the wisdom He has given me on to those I work with. The majority of my experience lies in helping people with their spiritual issues, relationships concerns, teaching better communication skills, and helping people cope with anxiety and stress.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach is eclectic and includes cognitive-behavioral, paradoxical, empathic listening and family of origin work. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs, working to find a pace that both challenges you to reach the goals you desire to achieve, while also helping you to feel heard, understood and as comfortable as possible.
It takes a great deal of courage to reach out for help in order to have a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take those steps, I am excited to help support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Cheryl is very supportive and encouraging. She believes in me when I can't yet believe in myself. I'm very blessed to have her helping me through this journey of healing.
Cheryl is attentive, professional, an incredible listener, has a great memory, patient, humorous, relatable and really puts things in perspective. She offers different views on how to approach issues and goes the extra mile to work out situations. I appreciate her timing and divine wisdom along with providing assignments for subsequent visits.
Kind. Wise. Good practical insight. challenges with good intentions. is a good spiritual adviser. Responsive and works with my odd schedule.
The biblical perspectives and advice I have received from Cheryl have been mind-blowing. I am so thankful for her time and wisdom, it has changed the way I think in a good way and set me on a more positive path.
Cheryl is quite knowledgeable in the Word of God. This has been very comforting when discussing pretty much all of my issues. I hope someday I can quote scripture like she does!
Although I prefer a male counselor, my brief experience with Cheryl indicated to me that she has a wonderful heart for this and truly cares about her clients.
I signed up for 2 months of counseling and had Cheryl Salas as my counselor. I am so grateful that God brought her across my path. She listened to what I said & read what I wrote & was able to quickly get to the core of my problems with compassion and understanding. She gave me suggestions on things to think about & work on between sessions which I found extremely helpful also. She prayed with me and cared about my progress. The results of 8 weeks with Cheryl was worth every penny I spent. Thank God for Faithful Counseling and for a great counselor like Cheryl Salas. I will be moving forward & upward with the information I gained through this counseling. Thank you so much!!
I appreciate Cheryl for her time and listening. And helping me to get back on track in my walk with the Lord. Truly a Blessing.
I have just started with Cheryl. I say that, but I've been in the process of getting started for a bit now. She has been understanding and supportive of my situation by being available when I am ready to invest time into my counseling but also reaching out from time to time, just to check in on me. I appreciate the space she allows me in while I work up to actually getting started. So far I feel as though she personally understands my situation and some of the things I have been struggling with. It helps make it easier to talk openly about things. I also liked that she has suggested things I can do outside of sessions to keep moving forward until I am in a position to devote more time to sessions. After our first phone session, I felt more positive and hopeful than I have in a very long time. I really believe that God's hand matched us up.
Just wise beyond her years. Very informative and attentive to your needs. Has a wonderful balance of wisdom into your issues using God's perspective from His word and logical life experiences /truths that may help.
