Chris Coleman

About Me

Hello, my name is Chris Coleman, and I am the owner, Clinical Director & Supervisor of Liberation Counseling & Consultation, LLC, licensed in The Commonwealth of Virginia and Maryland as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Provider & Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in Virginia, Master Addiction Counselor through NAADAC, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, National Certified Counselor through NBCC, and a Substance Abuse Provider with Department of Transportation. I have Master's degrees in Addiction Counseling and Professional Counseling through Grand Canyon University, and I also have attended bible college and completed a degree in Biblical Studies.

My primary theoretical approaches are Cognitive Behavioral, Reality (Choice), Motivational Interviewing (Enhancement), Solution Focused. I am also certified through PREPARE/ENRICH working with families or couples. I utilize the evidenced based approaches from the scientific training, yet, my base and strength of therapy, come from a faith and biblically based model, which means, the approach is from the inside out. I will never push my faith and convictions upon anyone, nor do I shy away from who I am and to Whom I belong and live for.

I will always pray for you; however, I will ask for your permission to pray, with you. John 10:10 provides a clear understanding of what I do, and why: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus the Christ) have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." Our vision in Liberation Counseling & Consultation is, to proclaim liberty, to the captive", with the spiritual understanding that substance use, co-occurring and mental health disorders take people's live captive, and that is not what the plan of God is for you. I thank you for the opportunity to work and walk with you, assisting you on your walk out of captivity and bondage, into a life of joy, peace, healing and deliverance. Amen!

Chris Coleman is a phenomenal counselor! He provides my husband and I weekly counsel to include our Christian beliefs/values. We love how real he is and how he allows us to be ourselves. He is also relatable while still holding authority. We’d recommend him to anyone looking for “real” counsel and not the “people pleasing” type. We really want to be our best selves for one another and Mr. Coleman is helping us to get there.

Chris has immediately met me where I am at and speaking to the truth of who I am in Christ. He is unwavering in his insistence that I am justified before God and encourages me to shed my sinful fleshly desires. He ministers to me and listens just as well. I only wish I had more time to really grind away at certain points in our conversations, no fault of his, I’m just a little more long winded than a half an hour session can contain. My time with Chris is well spent however, and I can see the direction he is taking me leading to truth found in Jesus Christ alone.
