I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina. I have over fifteen years of experience working with preteens to seniors. My experiences have taught me the importance of being an active listener who is nonjudgmental and non-condemning. It is important for me to inspire others through the Word of God while encouraging the fellowship with a loving God.
My specialties include Christian based counseling, Ethnic discovery, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy and Executive Functioning skill development. Because every situation is different and flexibility is important I also use eclectic variations of meditation, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Strength-Based strategies. Since prayer has shown to relieve tension and provide focus we will consult about its use during the counseling sessions.
As a Christ follower, it is my goal to help you light the flames of faith and learn to enjoy God’s radiance. In much of the Bible we learn about peace, joy, and wellbeing, together we will pursue approaches to diminish or resolve issues. Having found faith as a teen who was bullied at church I understand the need for Godly help. The sermon that day many years ago was “with Christ you are never alone”. As an only child and introvert I always felt alone and with strict parent (thank God) there was a protocol of behavior both in and outside of the church. This promise to never be alone became even more important as an adult with the loss of my husband and parents in a two-year time span. It was my knowledge of Hebrews 13:5-6 where I wasn’t forsaken and I was never alone that allowed me to emerge from the loss and grief. There are techniques I have learned through the process which use Evidence Based therapies, scriptural pearls of wisdom and the guidance of a faithful God. I am inspired by Philemon 1:5-6, believing in the good things Christ has for you, and assisting as you find your place of peace, joy, and comfort.

She's been such a great help thus far. Could't have asked for a better therapist!
Cleo has been consistently very helpful and skilled in assisting me to navigate a very difficult life circumstance. I am grateful to have had the pleasure to have her as my counselor.
Working with Cleo so far has been great her approach to counseling is a perfect combination of spiritual wisdom and counseling.
Cleo has had tons of good suggestions and tools to help me connect with my feelings and figure out behavior change tools.
Cleo helped me to see past my current situation and get back to positive, hopeful thinking. I appreciated that she explained the process of what I was experiencing from a psychological perspective, and also pointed me back to the one who brings peace.
Thank you for your listening ear! I'm most appreciative.
Ms. Thompson is very kind and seems to have a soft heart for a broken marriage. I am happy I chose her as my counselor.
I would highly recommend Cleo Thompson - she is very easy to email and speak with. Very intuitive of what is happening, and gives great advice. I am so grateful I was paired with her and would extend my thankfulness and gratefulness in a minute and to friends.
Ms. Cleo has been a wonderful counselor. I truly appreciate her having an option for phone calls which was much better for me than messaging or live chat. She took her time with me, listened to me, respected my concerns and provided sound Christian guidance which helped me tremendously in gaining a clearer understanding and perspective of my situation. I highly recommend Ms. Cleo for anyone who needs counseling. She's is truly a godsend.
Thank you. This has been a huge help!
