About me
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in AL and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in FL with 20 years of experience as a therapist and counselor in a variety of settings. My Christian faith guides my counseling/therapy style as it does my life. The Lord has led me on a journey that spans independent, fundamental Baptist churches, Assembly of God and Southern Baptist churches which has blessed me with an openness to faith yet with a conservative bent. I learned about praise and worship in the Pentecostal setting and grounded my beliefs in the Baptist church and am currently a Sunday School teacher at my Southern Baptist church.
Thinking about counseling/therapy can be a confusing and anxiety-filled process especially for people of faith, who want to know they will be guided by Biblical precepts that best fit their own beliefs.
I have helped people with a wide range of challenges including depression, anxiety, stress, career concerns, family and couples issues and military issues. I also have experience working with trauma and abuse survivors.
My therapy style is warm and inviting. I believe in treating people with respect, sensitivity and compassion, avoiding labels and other stigma. My background is in cognitive behavioral therapy and client-centered counseling. My goal is to work with you to develop treatment plans that fit you and your specific needs and concerns.
