About Me
Hi there! My name is Darci Alston. I am currently living in upstate New York. I am a military spouse and a mother who has been counseling for 4 years. I understand how amazing and stressful military life is. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor in New York. I received my Master of Arts from Hawaii Pacific University. I have been working in the field of both mental health and substance abuse. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults. Relationships can be difficult. I have expertise in areas such as communication, codependency and relationship dynamics. I genuinely enjoy helping others. I love to see small progress and empower others to make positive changes in their lives.
My counseling approach encompasses many modalities all in order to help you reach your goals. Solution focused, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness are all examples of techniques I use. My counseling style is client focused. It is warm, interactive, open and non-judgmental. Therapy is a safe place to work on issues in order to better our quality of life.
I am a devout Christian myself. I know how difficult it can be to find someone who understands your values and beliefs. Having someone who shares those, can greatly impact the connection you may feel with a counselor. Your goals and values are yours, however I share them and am here to help you when you're ready. You've done a difficult taks of reaching out to get help! Let's get started!

Darci made me feel very comfortable talking with her. She helped me to break down my problems and solve them for myself. My experience with her was very empowering.
Darci makes me feel very comfortable and that isn't easy to do. I am able to open up and discuss things that are very uncomfortable for me.
Professional and supportive. We have just started but I am impressed
