About me

Hi! I am a licensed mental health counselor, board certified art therapist, and registered expressive arts therapist, having received my master's degree from Lesley University in 2010. I am a doctoral candidate of the expressive arts therapies at Lesley University and a visual artist with an long history of exhibiting and publishing my work.

The most important part of being a therapist for me is to assist others in deep, genuine healing and understanding of the self. I truly believe that we all have what need within ourselves to make change, heal, and become the best version of ourselves possible. Sometimes we just need help tapping into these resources and figuring out how to navigate them. We live in a world with too many pressures where we are constantly told what we are suppose to look like, be like, act like, think like and what we are suppose to have, want, and need. I want to encourage people to ask the question "Why?" when faced with these societal suggestions. When we ask "why" we are able to feel increasingly more comfortable with becoming our authentic selves. It is important to identify areas of interest and strength to then cultivate ownership of our identities. Being curious and asking questions about societal expectations can help foster trust within ourselves, confidence in who we are, and excitement about the future.

I work from an inquisitive place and encourage exploring multiple truths within our lives and how every scenario can be approached from a variety of perspectives. As we enter different stages of life, we are faced with different sets of questions, all having equal importance along our life journeys. I believe in trusting the events that take place in life and embracing the phenomenological nature that each event can present. One situation can give us information that leads to the next situation and the next and next and so on. There is important information in all life events, major and minor, and I believe it is my job to help people discover what that information is and how to learn, grow, and change from it all. So if you feel stuck in life, I am a great addition for your wellness team. If I am your first addition, I will help you develop a plan to surround yourself with supports and resources that can help you thrive in life. I will help guide you in, out, over, under, around, and through the circumstances that you find yourself in. Life is too short to stay stuck!

I look forward to crossing paths and assisting you in becoming the version of you that you deserve to be.

After three other counselors, Devon just gets it. She knows my personality type, challenges me when I need it, helps me think through scrambled thoughts. Devon, you are more help than you could ever imagine!
