Hello! My name is Diane and I am a Christian who is a Licensed Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I have also been trained in Biblical Counseling through my church and use this training to help professing Christians - and anyone who desires Christian counseling - to navigate life's challenges from a God-oriented, biblical worldview. I have also had the opportunity to be involved in short-term missions and have a heart for missionaries and the unique challenges faced in their work.
This emphasis in counseling for believers in Jesus is inspired by 2 Timothy 3:16:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in right living."
Biblical counseling acknowledges the authority of God’s Word in the life of all who want to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, and that no one has – or can speak - greater insight into our lives than our Creator. My own journey in my faith was greatly strengthened by learning the tools that I was taught to interpret my life circumstances through in the model of Biblical Counseling. I accepted Jesus as my Savior at the age of ten but have wrestled with contentment, joy, happiness, and trusting God through various seasons of life and the twists and turns in this earthly journey. Even though I had been discipled in college and beyond to walk in relationship with God, Biblical counseling gave me a new perspective on how to view my trials and struggles and respond in more God glorifying ways. This is why I love to share it with those who want a God-centered, Biblical world view of navigating the trials of this earthly life. Much more than just quoting scripture for different topics, Biblical counseling seeks to help each person consider God’s plan for an abundant and joy filled life - not based on our circumstances - but on our desire to serve God and find our ultimate joy in Him and our secure relationship as sinners who deserve death and yet - have received the gospel of grace through Jesus death on our behalf! The agent of change is the Holy Spirit – using the Word of God to accomplish His task.
Our culture is driven in a thousand different directions with voices trying to gain authority in one area or another. Biblical counseling recognizes that we have to be dependent on God’s Word to help us interpret what’s going on and how to clearly think about those things. It is a way of looking at our circumstances from the lens of God’s grace and redemptive work in our lives and His purposes.
In addition to counseling, I have had the opportunity to travel and experience many different cultures and build relationships with missionaries through short mission trips at home and overseas. I am thankful for these opportunities to broaden my perspective and believe that they help me to better help people of all ages, cultures, and stages of life to navigate through the presenting challenges and issues that may be keeping someone from experiencing a fulfilling life. I have experience working with a wide range of concerns such as: anxiety, stress, fear, depression, relationship and family issues, coping with life changes, grief and loss, aging, trauma, career-decision making, addictions, and related issues.
My counseling approach is focused on the whole person (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual) and directed to help each person work towards the personal goals presented using a God-centered Biblical worldview as the core of Christian counseling. I invite you to take a step of faith toward healthier perspectives in whatever issues are stealing your joy, and together let's discover new ways to look at trials and God's awesome plan for your life!
