My name is Dolores Clemons, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Wyoming. I am also licensed in Louisiana. I currently work as a Veterans Affairs Social Worker, and have a small private practice called We Listen. I have experience working with people from all different backgrounds who are struggling with a wide variety of challenges. My experience began in the Family Services arena working with challenges related to Foster Care and Adoption. I then transitioned into Crisis Social Work working in an Inpatient Hospital Setting serving those with Serious Mental Illness and their Families. A significant part of my career has been spent with the Active Duty Military and Veteran populations. I have been working with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, adoption and foster care challenges and challenges of Caregiving. The feedback I receive from clients and co-workers is that they find me to be caring and nonjudgmental, and they appreciate that I am honest and direct with them. You can expect me to walk with you through whatever difficulties you are facing and help you learn more about yourself and the way you interact with the world.
I grew up and attended a variety of churches over the years, and find that these experiences have enabled me to grow and love the uniqueness of individuals and the place one's past and environment have on the present. As a born-again Christian, my faith affects every area of my thinking, though I appreciate the opportunity to engage in and counsel individuals from a variety of backgrounds and beliefs. I am aware of the power of love, reconciliation, and grace in my life and the lives of others.
The connection between therapist and client is one of the biggest factors for success, and so I will listen to best understand your current situation and concerns. My counseling style is collaborative and interactive, respectful, warm, and practical. I draw from cognitive-behavioral, client and solution-focused, motivational, attachment-based, therapies. I focus primarily on present circumstances and work collaboratively to better understand one's past and environment, and to adjust unproductive patterns of thinking and behaving as you move forward.
I can interact with you in whatever manner you are most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better. I am also available to you via phone and text if that is more comfortable for you. A majority of my availability is in the evenings and on the weekends but I check messages several times during each weekday.
I know how hard it can be to find a counselor with whom you feel a connection. I would be honored to work with you through this stage of your life.
