Greetings, my name is Dr. Donna M Chandler-Kornegay. I am excited to work with you.
As a clinician, therapist or counselor, I believe it is my divine purpose to serve mankind in a way that is pleasing to the Lord and that is acceptable to Him. It is my desire to work from a perspective that directs individuals, couples, groups or families in a way that is God-ordained and God-pleasing. I am a Christian. I do profess to honor and love the Lord. Through my work I find it to be my purpose and intent to do it well and in a manner that is not only pleasing, but there is manifested change as a result. I have known the Lord since I was a child and gave my life to Him in my early 20's. I make every attempt to live and work in a way that is delightfully pleasing to our Father. Therefore, those who desire a Christian perspective, I believe I am the clinician who can effectively offer faith-based services.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS), National Certified Counselor (NCC) and working toward certification as a Certified Sex and Addictions Therapist (CSAT). I love what I do. I see it as my purpose and my intention in my life. We are here, as I believe, to serve each other. Therefore, whatever you are destined to do in life, we are required to do it well so that we are purposeful and intentional. I have been in the mental health and social work profession for over 20 years. I work from an eclectic premise most often, but find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Reality Therapy to be the most effective for my clients. I also come from the philosophy that in order to effect change in one's life there must be a desire, a practice toward changing the desired behavior and thus habit results as a notion of that continued practice of the changed behavior.
I have a wealth of experience when it comes to Mental Health Counseling. I hold a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in Counselor Education and a minor in Psychology, a master of arts from North Carolina Central University in Counselor Education and a bachelor of arts from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Psychology. I have interned with Wake County Mental Health and North Carolina State University along with holding Program Director positions with North Carolina Central University School of Law and South University in High Point, North Carolina. I was one of the first mobile clinicians with the Raleigh Police Department and the first Director of Wellness with NCCU School of Law. I have served as a Lead Professor and Adjunct Professor with the University of the Rockies and Walden University, respectively. I have been in private practice for over ten years and have worked with a variety of populations. I am an expert in mood disorders along with experience in crisis management, anxiety disorders, sex, addictions and trauma disorders.
I do welcome the opportunity for us to journey together and changing the components and aspects of your life that you deem not changing. We are designed to live a fulfilling, purposeful existence. By making sure that the mind, body, and spirit coincide so that we exist as viable beings are ultimately the purpose we were designed to take on.
I wish you a blessed life!!!! So let's get started.
