Thank you for reviewing my profile. Hopefully you’ll find my experience and skills are what you seek to address your concerns. In my years as a psychotherapist and working and helping others I realize it takes much courage to open your life to someone you don’t know so, if this is your first psychotherapy experience, I congratulate you on taking this first step towards achieving the life you want to live.
I'm a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington Graduate School of Social Work and hold a Masters of Science of Social Work Degree. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
My 30+ years of providing psychotherapy services include work on children’s psychiatric hospital units, both as staff and as a visiting therapist, as a unit director of a children's and adolescent's residential treatment facility, as staff therapist and director of several community mental health centers, and operate my own private practice. I also serves in the Men's and Couples Ministries at my church.
My approach to therapy is one that incorporates an understanding that our spiritual nature must be addressed as part of the psychotherapy process. Those with traditional/fundamental Christian ideals may not prefer this approach as those who are in pursuit of spiritual growth and want to discover the blocks and limitations that may be causing emotional distress that stands in the way of living the quality of life they would like to live. This is the basis of my book, Escape from Insanity, Illusions and Lies, available through Amazon. However, those with traditional Christian values and ideals may find this a positive approach to understanding their emotional distress, along with applications and techniques to supplement their traditional beliefs from a fresh perspective.
I’ve discovered when people experiencing emotional distress in the form of depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions, and by helping them to discover they have the power to decide differently, they can identify and remove the blocks to authentic expression of Self. This approach, using Cognitive Behavioral techniques, you become aware of how your past experiences contribute to distressful emotions and actions and also brings awareness to the choices and decisions that has prevented you from living the life you were meant to live. This approach includes how to move beyond limitations preventing your success by revealing thoughts and actions of fear that have blocked your success and hide your true nature from you. Using this motivational approach in therapy with success, I created and conduct workshops involving a similar process of discovery of our spiritual nature. The workshop creates opportunities for self discovery and learning how to transform these thoughts and actions of fear, doubt and disbelief into achievable goals. These motivational and problem solving methods are individualized in psychotherapy to promote spiritual growth towards living the quality of life you want to live.
In addition, I’ve written a book on this vary subject, Escape from Insanity Illusions and Lies, available on Amazon.
It would be my pleasure to talk with you about the concerns that may be causing you emotional distress and help you achieve the quality of life you seek by helping you gain insight to causes, blocks and triggers of emotional distress and other options can be discovered to mental, spiritual and physical well being leading to a healthier life style.
