About me
I appreciate the courage and strength it takes to enter into a counseling relationship and the fear that may accompany reaching out to a stranger especially if you have never engaged in counseling in the past. I am here to support, equip, and empower you to live the life God intended for you.
I was raised in a Christian home and my faith is what gets me through the rough times in life. I believe that God has a plan for all of us and that He works everything together for our good. as scripture promises. I pray daily to express my gratitude to God for everything He has done for me and have seen for myself that He works everything together for my good even the struggles of which I have had many. Before meeting with clients I pray for wisdom and guidance and the words each unique individual client needs to hear and how to best be of service to them. I use scriptures to inspire, encourage, and comfort my clients.
I practice faith-based counseling along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to help clients to 'renew your mind" as Romans 12:2 encourages us to do. I agree with I Corinthians 13:13 which states "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." and counsel with this scripture in mind. I also teach therapeutic life skills to manage the difficulties in your life.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor licensed in Illinois with over 36 years of experience in the counseling profession. I engage in individual, couples, and family counseling with ages 7 to 99. I specialize in serving teachers, nurses, and current victims and survivors of domestic violence. I have completed an in-depth, two-year specialized school in prayer ministry and believe in the power of prayer to heal us.
I believe in your ability to grow and make progress and join with you on your journey to a more fulfilling and peaceful life. Philippians 4:7 promises us "a peace beyond all understanding." I respect the way each client learns, changes, develops, and grows in their own unique individual way. I counsel with empathy and compassion without judgment or condemnation. My goal is to provide a safe, peaceful, encouraging, and respectful environment in which you can explore the challenges that are interfering with the life God intended for you to live.
