My name is Elizabeth “Liz” Smith. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, and a National Certified Counselor. I completed my master's degree in professional counseling at Waynesburg University in 2010 as a nontraditional student.
I have primarily worked with those who have struggled with depression, anxiety, career issues, mood dysregulation, relationship and couple problems, and other life challenges presented by any type of life being disordered. I have completed 42 hours of training in EMDR therapy and am currently under supervision towards obtaining certification to help clients struggling with symptoms related to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I have worked with many families and children on the autism spectrum and have been told that my insight is helpful. I have obtained Specialized Family Therapy Certification and training to provide Co-Parenting, Trans-Parenting, and Re-unification services. Finally, I have also studied and provided grief and loss approaches in counseling.
As a therapist, I do this from the base as a Christian and will provide counsel from a spiritual perspective when desired and appropriate. I walk alongside and focus on each person’s specific identified needs and I adjust my style accordingly. In addition to trauma evidence-based approaches, I tend to draw from client centered, solution focused, strength based and motivational approaches. Many of my clients have reported experiencing increased positive self-image, freedom from emotions tied to traumatic memories, improved constructive communication and coping skills, and a greater reliance and trust in God.

Elizabeth has radically impacted my life in just a few sessions. She was able to identify root issues regarding a cycle of behavior I've been in for my entire life -- a pattern I've asked the Lord to reveal the answer to for the last 15 years. Elizabeth was able to help me recognize how to move forward, leading to an honest emotional, and spiritual breakthrough. She offered hope, Scripture principles, practical resources, and suggestions for action steps that made a tremendous difference. I will be forever grateful for the timing and gift of working with Elizabeth.
