About me

*NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS ON BETTERHELP.*

I am a doctoral level licensed clinical professional counselor, with twenty years of experience as a counselor. The most transformative aspect of counseling is feeling safe and supported by a knowledgeable therapist who will listen empathetically and without judgment, and I will help nurture and draw out your best self. I believe that your answers lie within you; my job is to help you discover your inner wisdom and identify and overcome the obstacles to self-actualization - whether they are internal (for example: low self-esteem, critical inner voice, shame, childhood traumas) or external (for example: illness, loss of a loved one, partner betrayal, family issues, financial troubles). My counseling approach is therefore client-centered, strengths based, and solution-focused.

My education background includes a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, a Master of Science in Professional Counseling, and a Doctorate of Psychology in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have provided counseling online for seven years, helping people navigate life, its hardships, and its challenges. I've worked in private practice, specialty clinics, community mental health centers, and hospitals. My clients come from varying ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds. Some of my specialties include chilldhood issues, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. I have also a great deal of experience working with those who have endured trauma and abuse, including dissociative disorders. I also have extensive experience with VIP clients and high profile cases.

My counseling style is warm and interactive, but with positive accountability to encourage healthy changes. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion - no matter what emotional processing is being worked through or expressed. Having been originally trained in Jungian and narrative therapies in classic psychoanalysis, your story matters to me and matters in its telling. Your treatment plan will be tailored to meet your unique and specific needs. I am also able to do EMDR if needed.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

I love a person that not only hear you but listen. Dr. Christensen is very professional, caring and this may seem weird but soothing. I’ve had other therapists before but I can tell she cares. You have to love the field of work your in and through her passion, I feel comfortable. It’s not always easy talking to strangers but there’s something about Dr. Christensen that make me want to give her flowers and it’s only the beginning.

Dr. Christensen is the only therapist that I've felt comfortable being vulnerable with and telling the absolute truth to, which led to me FINALLY understanding that I have complex PTSD. Once I realized that I had CPTSD, it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders and I finally understood that I wasn't "crazy" or "damaged" or any other stereotypical "name" for people struggling with their mental health. Mental health ailments have just as great an impact as physical health ailments have on a person, and Dr. Christensen has lovingly guided me to realize that I don't have to stay stuck in the same self destructive patterns and routines, and that there IS HOPE of relief when you get to the root issues and causes of CPTSD, and any other traumatic event(s) that happened in my life. It just takes honesty and transparency. And Dr. Christensen has exceeded all of my expectations. I truly never thought I could progress as much as I have within my life since working with Dr. Christensen, and her guidance has led me to the place I actually WANT to be in, and I am now willing to work hard to stay in that place, as well. I've been in therapy since I was 9 years old, and I've realized more about myself with Dr. Christensen's guidance than I have with any other therapists help, combined. Thank you, Dr. Christensen!

Dr. Christensen instantly makes you feel comfortable and makes sure you understand everything!

I have always believed that someone knowledgeable should be able to explain the ins and outs of their topics. If you don't like in depth explanations of the topics, you may feel over whelmed. However, I specifically requested to be explained how psychology effects emotion and mental illness and she delivered!!
I highly recommend Dr. Christensen, she gives you so much valuable knowledge to take with you forever with each session. I'm so grateful for her to share her knowledge with us! She has made every penny worth my subscription and works so well with my busy schedule!

Absolutely horrible honestly had more paperwork that I knew what to do with before I could even set up a session 973 billion questions suffering a trauma and then reaching out for help on this app and with this therapist is a No go.

Dr. Christensen is giving me the tools I need to work through this wonky time in my life. She is easy to open up to and follows up on the things I mention in my messages. She makes it easy to be completely honest, give the details of what I’m thinking, and get my thoughts out that would ordinarily be difficult for me to vocalize.
