About Me

Hi, I’m Emily! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and received my masters degree from Denver Seminary. I have years of experience in schools, residential care, faith based settings, community mental health, and outpatient settings and have experience working with stress and anxiety, women's issues, self-esteem, addictions, life changes, depression and mood disorders, among other things. My goal as a counselor is to hear your story, come along side of you, and help sort things out, whatever those 'things' are. I believe that nothing in this life is meant to be done alone and have based my counseling philosophy off of this verse from Ecclesiastes: "Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves, A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." I believe support and community are vital to a person's well-being, and want to work in tandem with you and the important people and things in your life--forming a threefold cord that will make you stronger, healthier, and happier.

Counseling is a journey of growth and self-discovery and as your counselor, I believe my role is to help foster and guide the process of you discovering everything God has called you to be. I used a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to help you heal, discover and reach your fullest potential and integrate the Christian faith into this process, as God is the ultimate healer and only by Him can I be a vessel to help you. I use an integrative approach to therapy, meaning it's not one-size-fits-all and my approach is unique to every person and what their goals are. This integrative approach pulls interventions from trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), narrative therapy and existential therapy.

I identify as a Christian and have been following Jesus for most of my life. I believe that it is by grace alone that I am in this profession and get to see His work and healing every single day. I have walked through really difficult, painful seasons of my faith and have seen really fruitful, joyful seasons and can understand wrestling with one's faith. Outside of the counseling room, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, serving at church, watching college sports, event planning, and soaking up every sight and taste this big, big world has to offer.
