About me
Hello. My name is Goldie Marker Oakes, Licensed Professional Counselor. I truly look forward to meeting you and supporting you to gain meaning, serenity, peace, and joy in your life. As your counselor, I strive to serve as Christ's vessel where we will create and work as a therapeutic collaborative team with the primary goal for you to obtain wholeness, growth, progress, and improved functioning in your life. My primary therapeutic modality includes a strong but eclectic therapeutic modality that incorporates strong Christian principals and values and a holistic and spiritual perspective using Mindfulness, Relaxation Therapy, and Prayer. My professional approach also includes a strong clinical perspective using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, all of which are meant to help you confront negative core beliefs; search and rediscover self and oneness; overcome life's trauma, loss, and grief; and creating a healthy future. My professional experience with adults includes:
• treating clinical concerns such as anxiety, social anxiety, depression, and other clinical concerns.
• relationships, self-image, self-esteem, and self-efficacy
• self-harm behaviors and impulse control
• anger management and stress management
My therapeutic approach often incorporates homework such as reading specific scripture or Christian literature, journal writing and practice of specific CBT and DBT strategies outside the clinical setting, at home, and in the community, all of which supports your growth and progress. My goal is for your growth to be internal as you move towards defining or redefining your relationship with Christ. This means a great deal of your progress requires your need to periodically evaluate your own progress through self-evaluation and self-reflection, in addition to my own clinical assessments with your progress.
My goal as a counselor is to help you find peace, joy, and happiness in life as you learn to overcome those things in your life that have caused a loss of functioning individually or within the family dynamic. This path is not always an easy one; however, God promises us that we Never have to travel that path alone.

Love Goldie!!!
Just started with Goldie, but can already appreciate her approach and the value of working with her. I'm very optimistic going forward.
My counselor is very understanding, supportive, and made me very comfortable from our initial conversation. She's a great person extremely professional. I am very thankful to have been paired with her.
She is so comforting and friendly! Her soothing presence and kind manner really eased the transition process between therapists for me. I could tell that she really cares and truly wants to help. She's good at what she does and readily admits when a client needs more help than she's qualified to give. I definitely would recommend her to friends and family.
Goldie is a wonderful counselor. She listens well and shares intuitive questions and insights into matters. She is also very empathetic and has helped me explore all aspects of a dilemma.
There are some things that set Goldie apart.

-She cares and I feel like she truly has a desire to help me
-She’s a real Christian and I can tell she’s led by God as she goes about the counseling process
-Much hope in sight for me
