About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Texas with 15 years experience helping people dealing with a variety of personal issues. I am a graduate of Abilene Christian University and the University of Texas at Austin. I have found that healing and regaining purpose and direction are not only possible, but probable, when a person partners with the design and resources God created to be available to him or her. In my practice, I have walked that path with others, and found the joy of fulfillment far outweighs the effort necessary to heal.
Prior to earning my LCSW license, I worked for 25 years teaching parents how to cope with the transitions of life due to childbearing and parenting. My professional counseling experience includes private practice, community service and hospice medical social work. As a therapist I have assisted people dealing with anxiety, grief, trauma, abuse, faith challenges, depression and self esteem.
Making the decision whether or not to seek help is a personal, and a very private one. My Christian faith guides me in honoring and respecting each person. In my experience the Client/Therapist relationship, along with reliance on God, is the cornerstone of effective counseling. A person’s connection and comfort with the therapist is an essential aspect of building a trust relationship and go far beyond what a therapeutic modality can offer by itself. I honor each person’s life struggles and believe that past circumstances help us recognize the strengths we want to take forward in life as well as helping us grow beyond past difficulties. Then we are better equipped to deal with current pain, trauma, and/or disappointments. My life scripture: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philipians 4:13

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Helen Coffman. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Faithful Counseling might be different.
I have had two sessions with Helen Coffman and would recommend her to anyone who wants to work with a counselor who takes a faith-based, Biblical approach and is a wonderful listener. Helen's warmth and empathy made it very easy for me to open up to her and talk through some of the emotions and challenges I am currently facing.
Helen very kindly messaged to check on me today. Definitely appreciate her thoughts and prayers.
Helen has been wonderful to work with. Exactly what I needed.
