About Me

Hi and Welcome!

My name is Hope Holman and I am a Christian Therapist. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia with over 9 years of experience in the mental health field. I am a retired Navy veteran and Disabled Vet who earned my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work at Saint Leo University. I am also a Registered Play Therapist.

I have served clients with a wide range of concerns including; but not limited to, depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, domestic violence, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, anger issues, sexuality, relational conflict, parenting challenges, foster care/adoption, Autism, ADHD, physical/sexual/emotional abuse, abandonment/rejection, and life changes. I have experience with various populations from ages 4 to 80. In addition, I have work experience in group therapy, support groups, couple counseling, outpatient, and in-home therapy.

My style of counseling is warm, non-judgmental, supportive, and encouraging. My therapeutic approach is strength-based, combining Cognitive-Behavioral and Client-Centered Therapy; however, I am experienced in several other treatment modalities. While working with me, you can expect a safe place to unpack and process life and all of its difficulties. I will address your spiritual beliefs and incorporate your faith into your counseling experience. A person's Faith is a very important part of their life. It guides one's belief/value system that influences how one thinks and behaves.

As your Christian Therapist, I will endeavor to help you make sense of suffering and challenges in one's life, to learn how to use spiritual interventions to deepen one's faith and increase coping skills, to find purpose or meaning in life, to identify spiritual values to help to guide life decisions and choices, to learn how to forgive others or oneself, and how to ask for forgiveness, to offer hope in improving physical, emotional, and spiritual health, and to provide a sense of belonging and connection. God desires His children to be whole in mind, body, and soul. I humbly serve as one of His agents of healing.

Therapy takes work and healing is a journey. I am humbled to walk alongside you as you discover a much healthier and happier you. Lao Tzu once said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Seeking out therapy is that one step. It takes considerable courage and strength to say, “I need help!” Perhaps, you simply need a listening ear or a heart that seeks to understand. Whichever it may be, I congratulate you for starting your journey to healing and wholeness whether for the first time in therapy or starting again. You are braver than you think and stronger than you realize!

I am excited about your journey. Let’s get started!
