I am an ordained deacon with the Episcopal church and came to this point in my life after years of working in a prison, beginning as a corrections office and and ultimately ending in upper management. It was in this setting that I came to understand many of the complexities of the human nature as well as a person's ability to change. I saw God working in the prison system and left corrections, went to seminary and returned as a chaplain until retirement. Before seminary, I spent 9 months volunteering in a Benedictine monastery Minnesota with a 100 nuns. As a result I became an oblate of St. Benedict, which is to say that I strive to live my life according to the Rule of St. Benedict of work, study and prayer. If I have a mission statement for my life, it is found in the Prologue of the Rule, "listen with the ear of your heart." When I left corrections to go to seminary I came across this Maryknoll Mission Statement that really defines my Christian calling, "Missioners go where they are needed, but not necessarily wanted. They stay until they are wanted, but no longer needed." It is in the capacity that I feel I have much to offer in the field of counseling, both through Christian spiritual direction and professional counseling. The scripture that speaks to me is, II Timothy 7:1 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Jackie is amazing!! She has such a calm spirit and is full of wisdom. Even though I am only doing my counseling for a short time, it is totally worth it. Jackie has helped me see my worth, and is helping me make decisions that could be life changing. Thanks Jackie!! =)
Jackie Burns is THE best counselor I ever had... seriously, she is REALLY great!!!!! She has a lot of wisdom and will intertwine scripture in our sessions! I love that. She worked with me doing calls whenever I needed them. She reminded me of a lot of things that I already knew, but maybe wasn't putting into practice. God placed her to be MY counselor and so glad He did. The first counselor I was set up with had a schedule that didn't work well with mine. So glad that happened. I feel so close to Jackie that I almost want to call her "Mom". I hope to stay friends after our counseling is long over.
If we would please God all the time, we would please others!
One of my fav verses Philipians 4:8
Jackie is professional, compassionate, respectful, intuitive, and very helpful!
Jackie is a very good listener and I enjoy our talks. She asks very good questions. She tells me what I need to hear but I always hang up feeling encouraged. She’s easy to talk to!
Jackie is a wonderful person who truly cares about the well-being of her clients. She strives to get to know them as much as possible in order to help them the best way possible.
