About Me

Grace to you and Peace from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:2

My name is Jamal Jones. I am a follower of Jesus Christ, husband, father, leader, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have an extensive background in ministry as a former pastor, men’s ministry leader, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) staff member, Division 1 football team Chaplain and director for FCA at my alma mater, Fresno State. It was during my time in ministry God revealed to me, and affirmed I am uniquely gifted as a biblical counselor. During my final two years of ministry I decided to enroll in in the University of Phoenix Marriage, Family and Child therapy counseling program to enhance my clinical skills. As a mental healthcare provider, I have worked for churches, the government, government contracted agencies, hospital outpatient, and correctional settings within the San Joaquin Valley. I have now developed an approach to counseling that is biblical and Christ centered within a cognitive behavioral framework.

Scripture is clear that God has plan to prosper you, not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 11-12). Through your personal relationship with Jesus Christ you have been called, chosen, forgiven, redeemed, set apart to be holy and blameless as an adopted child into the family of God (Ephesians 1:3-10). Your life, career, struggles, stress, worry, grief, pain, suffering, relational distress, pain, trauma, addiction or whatever else you may be going through have eternal significance. A divine purpose. Your life is not about you, but about who God is, the purpose, plan and destiny he has for you, in and through Jesus Christ!

I will listen, serve, and support you any way I can as your therapist. We will discuss your trials, struggles and challenges from a biblical worldview and perspective. I will help you "set your mind on things above" (Colossians 3:2), walk in humility before a Holy God (Matthew 5:3), equip yourself with the armor of God (Ephesians 6: 10-18), experience the power of prayer (James 5:13-18), and pursue God's best for this season of your life, marriage, family career and relationships (Ecclesiastes 3:1, John 10:10).

On day one when I did my first video session with Jamal I was in extreme emotional pain. His response at seeing this was immediate and compassionate, asking what was going on with me that I was crying. He is able to adapt his work with me extremely effectively. He and I enjoy humor, but he is skilled at sensing a right time to use it. He also has a great ability to listen and restate what was said, even reading between the lines which I have to admit isn’t always welcome. But I am learning to trust this process. Being that we are of a similar age helps tremendously because he is aware of the life stages I have been through. I appreciate too his biblical knowledge. He can quote scripture effortlessly with the assurance of his own faith. And, he isn’t heavy-handed with it.

Lastly, the nature of therapy being what it is, there’s a certain vulnerability that one needs to help the therapist understand. I have a conference with Jamal that he won’t make light of my struggles. He has a clear idea of his role as therapist and I really appreciate that quality in him.

I have already recommended this service and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Jamal.
