Greetings. My name is Dr. James W. Clifton. I am licensed in the State of Indiana as a Clinical Social Worker. I have a Master of Science degree in Psychology from California Coast University and a Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary.
I have training in multiple therapeutic modalities but primarily use Reality Therapy, Choice Theory, and Rational Living Therapy. I have a D. Min. in Biblical Counseling. I teach and show clients that their thoughts produce their feelings and behaviors, the only person's behaviors they can control is their own, how to make better choices, and that most problems are rooted in unhealthy or unsatisfactory relationships of some type.
I require clients to purchase two books: "Search for Significance" by Robert S. McGee and "Telling Yourself the Truth," by William Backus and Marie Chapian.

I am thankful for James Clifton. He hasn't just been my counselor he has become a good and close friend to me. I can look to him as one who will listen, strengthen, encourage, and instill hope.
He is very supportive and understands my situation. Has become a good friend.
Jimmy is great. He provides a variety of ways to deal with a variety of issues. He looks to find the deeper meaning behind certain habits and encourages his clients. I feel that I've made a few mistakes, but Jimmy never fails to remind of the progress I've made, and I can say that I've definitely made progress with him.
Jimmy is a good man. He does counseling because he truly cares about people and his years of experience and insightfulness allow him to help people and get to the heart of the matter quickly. I have learned a set of very useful skills that are helping me daily and was exposed to a new way of looking at my problems. that is life changing. I am truly grateful to Jimmy for his help.
James has helped me so much even after my 1st two sessions! He is personable and a great listener and has such wonderful ideas for me to put into practice throughout the week until we chat again. He understands my issues and is empathetic. I so appreciate his biblical counseling and his prayer at the end of our sessions. I truly believe God put him in my life for such a time as this.
James Clifton has been very helpful in this difficult time. I thank God for him ! He is very gentle and made me feel supported. He listens and also gives me advice. James regularly provides measurable objectives and targets to work towards. Finally, he takes the time to pray with me and bring our session before the Lord. Again , I thank Jesus for him...
Dr. Clifton is personable and understanding to my needs. I feel at ease telling him my problems and concerns. He often gives encouraging statements confirming to me that my issues can be worked through with time, humility and work. I'm confident things will get better with his help.
Dr. Clifton helped me recognize some of the issues going on with myself and my husband in our marriage and helped us fix them. I’m so grateful for his help and highly recommend his services.
