Greetings. My name is Rev. James (Jimmy) Clifton. I have been offering counseling services to clients for more than 30 years. I am licensed in the State of Indiana as a Clinical Social Worker. I retired the following licenses in 2015 due to entering into a period of semi-retirement: Licensed Clinical Addictions Therapist, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counselor. I hold a Master of Science degree in Psychology and several graduate and post-graduate degrees. I am also an ordained minister.
I have training in Christian, Biblical, and Pastoral Counseling. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Reality Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and several other modalities. I am an ordained minister.
To those who specifically request Christian counseling, I have served in the ministry for more than 30 years and have worked with clients in a pastoral counseling setting for most of those years. My approach teaches the client how to use various passages of Scripture to find encouragement, insight, wisdom, and guidance as the client and I utilize worksheets and prayer in the process. I also work with the client to understand God is a God of love, acceptance, compassion, and mercy rather than a God of vengeance, judgment, and punishment. In this process, the client learns self-acceptance and develop healthy self-esteem as he or she develops a stronger and healthier relationship with God.
I look forward to working with you.

Dr. Clifton helped me recognize some of the issues going on with myself and my husband in our marriage and helped us fix them. I’m so grateful for his help and highly recommend his services.
