About me

My name is Janice Johnson, MA, LPC, and I have 12 plus years in the field of psychotherapy working with a wide range of clients. I hold a BS from Oregon State University in education as well as a Masters degree in counseling psychology. I specialize in sex abuse, depression, anxiety, relationship issues as well as family conflict. I use an eclectic approach in therapy using cognitive behavioral, solution focused, mindfulness and, Gottman approach in relationships.
I have a passion to help people get thru difficult times in their lives whether It’s a transition or a traumatic event like a divorce or abuse. My goal is to always establish trust in the therapeutic environment so to best help clients to feel safe. In counseling, the best environment is one of caring and trust and I strive to provide both for my clients. Counseling can offer a fresh perspective on a situation. It is often hard to see the solution when you are right in the middle of a problem. I care about those impacted by sexual abuse as well as those who are dealing with depression and anxiety. In my practice, I will often explore unresolved family and other relational issues. I help my clients work through forgiveness and let go of any bitterness they might be holding on to. I like to help others become self-confident, insightful, and strong to face their situation to bring about healing and restoration. In my practice, I work with clients to establish their, “truths”, about who they are. Once this is established, then we have a foundation to work on instead of believing lies of shame, guilt, and thoughts that can leave one discouraged and hopeless. The mind is powerful and when we use it to heal and not to harm. I look forward to helping you thru whatever your challenge might be! Please let me know how I can help!! Therapy can be hard work but well worth the effort.
