About me

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (LMFT) and I have been working in a counseling field since 1993. I have experience conducting individual and families in-office and online, both residential and outpatient settings with clients presenting with depression, anxiety, relationship and parenting issues, teen concerns, and a wide range of challenges including grief/loss, insomnia, addiction, trauma, abuse, OCD, bipolar, as well as personal growth, adjustment issues and crisis.

I mostly tend to draw from the person-centered approach when in a therapeutic relationship with my clients. This means that I make consistent efforts to meet each client "where they are" and to serve as a catalyst to each individual who is progressing through their unique process of self-discovery and self-identification.

In my work with clients, I use some leading psychological modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also utilize Narrative, Strategic, Existential and faith-based (Christian) approaches.

My Educational Credentials include:
- National University Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology
- Licensed by State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences
- Play Therapy Certification (University of California, San Diego)
- Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy Certification
- Los Angeles County Certified in Mandarin/Chinese Language

I enjoy and feel honored to be a part of your personal experiences, as each of our problems and feelings are unique and yet we are all one and together. This is the way I like to approach my sessions – as a team, addressing challenges together to become free from judgment, criticism, and pain; to change our negative perceptions that do not serve us well; and to live a joyful and peaceful life now and for the future.

For my professional growth, I keep myself up to date with the ethical and legal guidelines in the field, and the latest research, and attend conferences and trainings.

I believe in creating a safe space where we can have difficult conversations, work on resolving issues and collaborate on treatment plans that are tailored to your personal needs and experiences. It takes a lot of courage and motivation to reach out for additional support.

I am here for you and thank you for trusting me with your utmost personal dilemmas takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step forward, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Jean listens intently and processes one's issues rather differently. She is action-oriented, in that one is asked to prioritize one's goals and to work on them. She is succinct and encouraging, and lets you develop a sense of where you need to go and to be which is very important in helping one become empowered by their decisions and being accountable for them.

I’ve never felt as comfortable with a counselor as I do with Jean. She listens deeply with an open heart and she focuses on your strength as an individual. She gives me helpful tools to move past my trauma and reminds me of my blessings. I feel grounded and lighter after our counseling sessions and I look forward to our next! Healing doesn’t have to be so painful :)
