About me

Welcome! Thank you for reaching out and sharing information about yourself! I am excited about the opportunity to reach more people using this platform. I look forward to helping you achieve your mental health and life goals; learning to thrive instead of just merely survive when life's situations come up.

You have just made the first, brave move toward a heightened sense of well-being and a better quality of life.

My name is Jeanette and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider with a focus on addressing the issues of both body and mind. I believe that we do not just treat the mind but also the body as they work in tandem together and not as separate silos. At different times in our work together, opportunities may come up for us to intertwine the two for optimal outcomes. At other times, a referral to someone specialized in issues surrounding the body would be more appropriate. Food as Culinary Medicine is emphasized in educational content only. As needed, a release of information may be obtained during our work together so this writer can gain guidance from prescribing physicians, specialists and family practitioners.

I have 25 years of experience in the mental health industry and have worked with adults and adolescents ages 16-80 with concerns about depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress that is rooted in some workplace environments, nutritional education as it relates to mind/mood, relationships, trauma, substance abuse and more! I find that most people have the answers to their concerns. They just don't know it yet. Sometimes those answers have just been covered up but they remain deep down inside of you. My job is to help you uncover and shine a light on some of those answers. I will meet you right where you are in this process and address your most urgent needs as a priority. I will use an eclectic blend of evidence-based approaches and techniques to make sure our work is specifically catered to meet your needs.

Together, we will identify your values, create goals and examine behaviors that can help you achieve the higher quality of life you seek. Also, we will explore the change of unhelpful behaviors that may be getting in the way of your desired progress. My approach to therapy is going to be customized to fit your unique needs in an eclectic yet evidence-based way.

I am well experienced in working with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship and family difficulties, substance abuse, life transitions, trauma, and severe and persistent mental illness. I have worked with a variety of populations including adults, children, geriatrics, families, an inpatient substance abuse clinic, an inpatient mental health facility, a high crisis community center, and an emergency room. I have experience and am comfortable working with a diverse range of individuals, people of color, all educational and socioeconomic backgrounds.

I am available for live video chats and texts Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. I do not schedule sessions or respond to texts over the weekend or over observed holidays. In fact, the week of a holiday I will not be responding to texts or emails. One last thing, our sessions will be expected to be live video chats. Generally, texts occur between sessions to follow up with you on any questions or concerns you have. After all, more than 80 or more % of all therapy happens outside of our session for those who commit to doing the work!

I hope my schedule can accommodate you but if not I am sure there are many other BetterHelp counselors who can.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Jeanette really took the time to get to know what I was dealing with and how it affected me. She also gave me several resources which helped me take small steps. She really helped me see the value in myself again.

She is very relatable and really tries to help me through each specific problem and random thought I may have. She seems t be eager to help me move forward and it’s good having an outside party to talk to about these things so I don’t have to put it all on family, friends, and colleges! She has been very helpful and involved so far!

I have only had one session with her but I can already tell she is going to help me grow and prosper out of my bad habits. She actually is very constructive and gives good advice and suggestions on how to improve my life. She is very thorough and understanding and it is really why she is so busy with clients.
