Thank you for reaching out for help. I know that can be the most difficult step in the counseling process.
My name is Jennifer Baird. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Florida. I absolutely love the work that I do to help others. I believe it is my calling from God to help those who cross my path. I have been in the social work field for 10 years. I started working with children and families, then had a career shift and moved to working with adults with mental illness and substance abuse issues. I have been providing counseling for the last 5 years. I am very experienced working with people who have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia and those with substance use disorders. I also have extensive experience working with people who have co-occurring disorders (i.e. a mental illness and substance use disorder.) I have also worked with the families and loved ones of people who have experienced these things. My faith is very important to me. It permeates all that I do, and that includes my counseling sessions.
We serve a healing God, and I firmly believe that he puts people in places such as counseling to help guide us. God is the ultimate healer and the Holy Spirit is our helper and counselor who guides us in all things. This can be difficult to hear when the stress of life is weighing us down which is why he has called individuals like to me, who are born-again Christians, to help my fellow brothers and sisters. I am a person who genuinely cares about others. This is not just a job to me. I want to see people live out the lives to which God has called them. My absolute favorite verse in the Bible is this, "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on this earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." (John 16:33 NLT) Jesus told us that living life in this world is hard. We are going to struggle and have difficulties, but we take heart in the fact that He has overcome the world! Allow me to be a voice helping you on this path and through some of those struggles. I will stand with you, without judgment, and we can walk together through this Christian life, navigating obstacles and keeping our eyes on Jesus.
Whatever you may be facing, I am here to listen and talk. The anonymity of being behind a computer may make it easier for you to open up. If not, I am available to do live video, phone, and chat sessions...whatever makes you most comfortable. I check my messages multiple times a day with Wednesdays being my only day with limited availability. If you are looking for a time that is not on my schedule, please reach out to check with me about the possibility of it being available. I am very flexible with my schedule and want to support my clients as best that I can.
