I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia with 15 years experience in the field of Mental Health Counseling. In addition I have certification from the National Board of Certified Counselors as an (NCC), International Association of Trauma Professionals as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCT). I graduated from Mercer University with my Master of Science Degree in Community Counseling (MSCC) Cum Laude.
I am an Atlanta native, married 24 years and have 1 teenage son.
My deep commitment to my clients allows the development of a comfortable, safe and nonjudgmental environment where they feel able to express openly their thoughts, feelings and emotions no matter how difficult or uncomfortable. I strive for excellence in the field of Professional Counseling attending many professional development workshops, conferences and seminars throughout the year (well exceeding the mandatory requirements of 35 CE hours to maintain an active license to practice in Georgia) to enhance my knowledge and skill base which allows me to best serve my clients. I have completed the Tele-Mental Health Continuing Education requirements that are mandatory for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisors (CPCS) in the state of Georgia.
I take an Empathetic, yet understanding and direct approach to counseling. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) models of approach in order to better understand an individual’s challenges and draw from their strengths and talents to achieve their goals in the therapeutic relationship.
