Therapy is Collaborative
Imagine you want to hike a new mountain trail. You’ve never been on it before, and your friends tell you it is exciting and fulfilling. It’s also difficult and sometimes dangerous. You get to the parking lot and feel nervous, excited, and worried. After walking across the parking lot toward the beginning of the trail, you find that there is a guide waiting at the trailhead for you. You feel relief and confidence as you start the climb.
Like a trail guide that walks down the path with you, I’ll help you through the difficult times and share your successes as you progress toward the peak. During our sessions, I offer a safe place to process the rigors of life. You will be able to to gain insight as we explore what factors could be impacting past, current, and future issues in your life. Sometimes this requires examining painful parts of our past or receiving difficult feedback. I’ll provide support and caring feedback to help you improve.
A critical feature of overall healing is faith. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace when we understand it correctly and apply it completely. Often, if something is out of balance in our lives, there is a spiritual root. Talking to someone who understands faith gives context to your unique struggles and allows the solutions to be framed in a belief and love for God. I can be your guide as you increase your overall happiness and strive to live a life of faith and devotion.
I’m licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy and completed my graduate work in the same field. I studied at Brigham Young University (BS), Argosy University (MA), and The University of Louisiana at Monroe (PhD Candidate). I have been a therapist since 2012 and love helping others. I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children and working in my garage on various wood projects.

Joel is amazing! Timely, practical, thoughtful, and patient. I have REALLY enjoyed working with him and he has given me comfort through a difficult period.
Joel is both wide and educated, compassionate and balanced. I appreciate his insight and that he is quick to grasp the nature of the issue and direct me to a solution.
I have seen several therapists in my life and just always felt like I was talking to a wall and going through the motions. I hated therapy, it felt pointless to me and I resented my time going to traditional therapy sessions, especially when I was busy and felt my time could be used more wisely in other ways. I started off close-minded with low expectations and I have done a complete 180 since. Joel treats me like an individual. He doesnt just listen to me. He gives me talking points, he responds and gives me feedback, he helps me really hone into and kind of sort out everything going on in my hesd and heart. What I love most about my time witb Joel is the resources he sends me. Yes in the past Ive had therapists send me a book recommendation they quite obviously send every patient. Joel, sends me TED talks, ans compelling articles that are both scriptual and non scriptually based. Im growing both in my emotional wellness and my faith. I couldnt recommend Joel more. I am getting so much more out of this experience than I ever thought possible!
