First, let me take a moment to congratulate you on wanting to change your circumstances and improve your mental health. That takes courage. You are brave and I would be honored to walk alongside you in this process.
My name is Brittain West. I am a 42 years old Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor from western Kentucky. I received my Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling in 2005 from Freed-Hardeman University, a small Christian school in western Tennessee, as well as undergraduate studies in Bible, Psychology, and Child and Family Studies. I have served as a deacon, associate minister, youth minister, VBS director, prayer partner, and on various ministry teams.
I approach treatment with the mindset of how we can most effectively and quickly complete the process while equipping and empowering you. My goal is for you to continue your life with all of the tools you will need to handle situations that you face. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systemic Therapy, and Solution Focused-Brief Therapy throughout treatment to help you achieve your goals. I excelled in working with individuals with relational issues, addictions, depression, unexpected life changes, and a variety of other issues. My clients enjoyed varying degrees of success, but where I saw the most success is when Jesus was part of the process. The healing power of the Holy Spirit is invited into every session to guide us and provide you with the grace and power to change.
Choosing to enter into counseling is a big step in your healing. I would be honored to help you along that path. I have experience, not only as a counselor, but as a client for myself and my family. I believe you are the expert in your life. My goal is to help you use what you already have available to you while also teaching you some new skills to successfully handle whatever you face. You have within you the ability and power to make all of the changes you need. I am here to help bring that out of you and give you the tools you are missing to accomplish the goals that YOU have for your life.
