About Me

Dedicated Mental Health and Substance Use/Addictions Therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 16 years' experience in personal and group, trauma specific counseling, and co-occurring disorders counseling, staff training, teaching, and development. I am finishing my training this month adding my Advanced CASAC credential. I am also in the final stages of finishing up my CRAFT supervisor training (Community Reinforcement and Family Training). I have just finished my course work and training to apply for my Registered Play Therapy Supervisor (RPT-S) credential. I am an trauma informed and specific trained therapist who specializes in trauma informed care and treatment modality. I treat all populations including adults, older adults, parents. I have ample experience with children and adolescents, as well as family specific practices. I have a strong background in Cognitive Behavior Therapy; I am certified as a Cognitive Processing Therapy practitioner. I believe that a solution focus approach using motivational interviewing starts therapy well. It will build a great treatment plan that is based on client stated need and goals. Once established, a prescriptive approach will apply using a modality that fits stated needs and goals utilizing CBT models to trauma informed models.

I am a practicing Christian, Methodist. I apply my faith and Christian beliefs with clients as they desire in session. I have a strong back ground in my faith stemming from early child hood through now. All therapy treatments can include our religious beliefs and benefit strongly from doing so. If you have any specific faith questions, I am happy to answer them.

I am currently working as a therapist at a government clinic in my local area. I have been here for 12 years practicing with populations from 3 years old to older adult. I treat families, trauma-using EMDR, Progressive Counting (PC), Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Play Therapy. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy work, as well as other models into coping skills and increasing strengths and resilience. In addition, I regularly practice and teach an adaptation of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. I have started the process of becoming fully trained in MBSR. I have an adaptation that I use as a curriculum that is shown to help with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and trauma. I have created a website with the practices to better help those beginning and maintaining practices at home.

I am Biopsychosocial and come from a trauma/developmental theoretical orientation. I believe that what happens to us in the past affects how we are now socio-emotionally and behaviorally including internally. Given that, our current environment, relationships, and interactions can adversely affect our socio-emotional health and therefore behavior and internal states.

I am great at engagement and treating a variety of concerns. I have an adult centered approach that using a solution focus to someone discover the identified concern and work towards a solution. Prescriptive approaches can be applied as needed based on the concerns presented. I look forward to working with you!
