About me

Hello, I am Karen and I have over 20 years of experience as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and mental health counselor (LMHC). Helping people improve their quality of life is my passion! To help with immediate relief, I work from Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) orientation to empower you and get you moving in the direction you desire. I am also trained in Family Systems Theory which takes a comprehensive approach to addressing issues for the long term. I am happy to meet you where you are and go at your pace whether that is baby steps toward a goal or dealing with sudden, massive life changes. I can help you see things from a different perspective by asking thought provoking questions. I like to emphasize your strengths while supporting you learning new skills and can be very direct when needed. Together, we will determine together what you want and need to achieve your goals.

Personally, I am from the Midwest and have enjoyed living in New England and Southern California as well as Florida. I have learned to appreciate how different those cultures are. I have diverse work experience having worked in management in Corporate America as well in startups and family owned businesses. I enjoy traveling, am very social and strive to keep myself physically and emotionally healthy.

I will always reply to your messages within 24 hours. I will always let you know if I am going to be offline for longer extended periods of time. I would enjoy meeting you and helping you in this chapter of your life. Let's get to work!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Karen Fischer. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

She has messaged and asked me how things were going. She obviously takes her work seriously. She has given me homework. She is a straight shooter but not belittling. She laughed at something I said but I have laughed about it too!! I have nothing bad to say about Karen.

Karen has been very attentive.
Seems to know very well when to stay quiet and listen and when to interject.

Shes economic with her questions that seem to quickly add a realization and clarity and direction. that is timely to the process.

She seems to have good notes and be able to remember details of our conversations to quickly refer to or reference.

I feel especially privileged to have her.

Karen is a wonderful therapist who responds to my communications, is always helpful and quick to respond giving me options on how I want to communicate. I often prefer messaging because of the time zone difference it is easier. I would highly recommend Karen particularly if you are a female expat.

I've known many memtal health professionals over the years and Karen is one of the best. She has a great mind for the big picture and offers a logical approach. She actively participates in a minimal, unobtrusive and intelligent way and shes incredibly wise. She literally feels like that older person we all need in our lives who can show us why we are feeling insane at any given moment and how to confidently confront the causes of those feelings. BTW I went through four therapists here before I was lucky enough to find Karen. Karen, you're awesome!

Karen is great. She gives the perfect balance of validating your feelings and experiences but also being direct when you're in the wrong and HOW to fix that which I really appreciate. I can talk to her about anything and she will help me see and use the logical side of my brain. Definitely recommend her!
