Karen Welker

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with licensure in both Arizona and Texas. One of the most rewarding experiences of my life includes working as the Spiritual Care Therapist at a Residential Treatment Center. In this role, I worked with survivors of physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse. While I use Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) as my therapeutic perspective, also using a client’s personal spiritual and religious background and viewpoints to create an environment of real healing. In this role, I explained to my clients that my job was never to preach or tell a client what to believe. Rather, I would help a client explore his or her own spirituality and questions of their faith. I use warm, individualized, empowering, person-first, and trauma-informed methods to help my clients with multiple conditions and diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, substance use, Adjustment Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

In my experience providing Christian Counseling, I have the opportunity to see The Bible in action, to see hope at work, and to see grace happening every day. Taking that first step on this journey is a big one. Let’s make it together.

Karen is very attentive to what I'm trying to articulate and can't. I appreciate her kindness and understanding the little details. It's definitely a relief to go through the week knowing I get to talk to someone who cares what I'm going through.

Karen understood immediately what I was trying to express and what I needed. From day one she provided tools and homework that supplemented our counseling session. The video sessions work extremely well.
