Hi! I am Kathryn (Dr. Kat) Oden and I have worked with many types of people over my 30 years of practice . When meeting with a person who faces any issue, my first job is to understand the strengths (including religious or ethical beliefs) and issues they have as an individual, then as a part of a religious community, if desired. To understand I have to LISTEN a lot at first and not assume they are like every other person with a particular issue. My own life started with a firm grounding in Christian ideals; as a child I was very likely not to see those who believed differently as being my equals. Fortunately, I grew up and became more centered on faith that on man’s rules. I have loved ones with a variety of beliefs and I support them to help my dearest people get what they need spiritually, regardless of in what church or temple or mosque their faith is practiced. I am willing to do trauma work if the client can agree to complete assignments outside of the weekly sessions. None of my work will be effective if the client doesn't work just as hard or harder.
While working on my Ph.D. in Clinical Neuropsychology (Brain Science basically) I developed a belief that I know very little about an individual person although I have studied and worked with lots of different groups. Neuropsychology tells me something about someone’s hardware, but their software is unique, as people and as part of a spiritual community. I will need to get to know your story (Narrative Therapy for those who like labels) as well as that of your Family of Origin (siblings, parents and grandparents, uncles and aunts). That is the only way I can offer therapy custom fitted to your strengths and needs. If you are a reader, I may suggest a book or audiobook you might learn from and I welcome the opportunity to know your favorite books. I even suggest movies sometimes that might touch on themes similar to your life issues. I have always been interested in the stress points in “normal” human development, times of change when we can choose excitement or anxiety about something new.
I respect your Truth regardless of whether we agree and I try hard only to give “advice” when asked.
Join me on the path to discovering your best self and life as part of a spiritual path. See you there!

I absolutely love Dr. Oden. She makes me feel positive and makes me look at things in a different perspective. I am so grateful for her help and advice. There aren't enough words to describe my gratitude.
Dr. Kat Oden has been fantastic! She helped me tremendously in identifying my issues and provided me strategies to manage them effectively one by one. She listens intently and apparently cares for me as a patient.
She even goes beyond ways that would help me manage the things that stress me out causing my emotional and mental issues. She helped me handle my meds appropriately of which I am so thankful.
I would urge others who have issues like mine to avail Faithful Counseling even to those outside of the United States. Dr. Kat would be a great counselor! We had all our sessions on video chat which was very convenient. Our sessions were always a success.
Thank you Dr. Kat and Faithful Counseling! May you continue to help people with issues in life like myself. Now I feel much better and able to manage many things in my life. Keep up the good work! God bless!
