Greetings, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord! My name is Kevin Wilbanks, D. Min, MA, NCC, LPC. Thank you for reaching out to me! I am here to collaborate with you to get from where you are to where you want to be in your faith and life. We do this in a confidential collaboration here on this platform. I facilitate client change by listening and understanding, being non-judgmental, dependable, and honest. Our relationship in our work together is the most important thing, so you can grow as a person to be more of who you believe God wants you to be. We share a hope in Jesus Christ, so we can address issues from the Bible. Therapy helps you resolve past interpersonal problems and overcomes barriers to growth by offering a “corrective emotional experience” through your relationship with me, as your therapist. Maybe you don't feel understood or listened to, even by christian brothers and sisters. Maybe you are struggling to understand your problems from a Biblical perspective. Maybe your faith is weak or failing. We can deal with that!
It takes courage to reach out. Not only that, it is smart to do so. Part of growing in our competence in life is becoming better at listening to God and obeying Him (wisdom) even as we learn about our own strengths and our limitations. We are told in scripture seeking wise (godly) counsel is a good idea, especially if you have used your skills and resources and have not been able to change an aspect of your life.
As a Christian and Licensed Professional Counselor, I help fellow-believer clients capture a greater sense of wellbeing, control and responsibility over their lives by teaching them new approaches to solving old problems , often through a deeper, renewed understanding and appreciation of how the Bible is true and is a living guide for us through the Holy Spirit's power . Clients may experience a sense of wellbeing, responsibility, and control they have never experienced before, as they continue to seek God in the counseling process! Fellow believers see God's love, care, and faithfulness in new, meaningful ways and can feel encouraged once again!
My clients often come to me for counseling when they are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief & loss, out of control anger, dissolution of a marriage or marital conflict, parenting challenges, life changes, and other life pain or challenges.
To make life barriers become opportunity for growth, control and wellbeing, I help clients overcome these experiences by teaching them how to calm body and mind to aid them in decision making and enhance their devotional life with Jesus. I help clients gain awareness and insight into how the Bible and their past is related to the present and help them to make different choices for their future, with the aim of seeking to please God. I help clients get unstuck from their failure in relationships or reaching other life goals. I help them change self-sabotaging and non-Biblical beliefs, self-talk, and fears to Biblical thoughts that have a powerful and positive impact on how they feel emotionally, and how they experience God's presence in their lives. I coach clients on adapting their behavioral skills to meet life challenges more effectively.
