Welcome! Reaching out for help is often the first and most difficult step to initiating change in our lives but I’m so glad that you are here! My name is Kim and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have been working in the field for over 25 years, the last 14 years have been in private practice. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from North Carolina State University in 1989 and my Masters of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1995. I have lived in Tennessee for the past 20 years. I am a believer and have been walking with the Lord for the better part of my 50 years on this earth. I believe that our faith is foundational to who we are as individuals and is our most valued resource when facing life's challenges and difficulties. Throughout the years I have worked with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, grief and loss, trauma, addictions, and workplace stress. I have extensive training and experience working with couples and other relationship issues. I am certified in critical incident stress debriefing and am trained and utilize EMDR therapy in treating trauma related issues. My primary approaches with clients include cognitive behavioral approach, solution focused therapy, and dialectical and behavioral therapy to assist in emotional regulation.
I believe that unconditional positive regard in a therapeutic relationship is essential to making a connection with my clients in order to provide them a safe nonjudgemental environment where they can freely discover their best , most authentic self! Through self reflection and discovery it is possible to overcome tremendous obstacles and issues that have impeded growth in the past and can lead directly to the positive change that the client desires. I would feel fortunate to get the opportunity for us to work together to help you achieve the change you would like to see in your life!

Kim is a true answer to prayer. I had been abandoned by a prior therapist I had seen for many years. I was at a low point never wanting to trust another therapist. My bipolar illness was out of control. I took one last chance and was matched with Kim. She gave me confidence to trust my own inner voice. Having seen her for a year, I am finally able to be at a good place. I am getting my own rental home away from toxic family. One year ago this would not have been possible. Kim truly listens. She helps you to find answers while always being on the sidelines as your best cheerleader. If you have jaded thoughts regarding therapy, do yourself a huge favor and work with Kim. You deserve to live your best authentic life.
I have recommended Faithful Counseling, and regularly commend my counselor Kim to family and friends. I am very thankful for this service and my counselor.
I had never gone through counseling before and was hesitant. But it was worth it. Kim Deaton listened to my concerns, asked questions that made me think and come to new realizations, and offered helpful advice in how to deal with my struggles.
Kim has really helped me deal with the issues I'm dealing with. This has been an extremely hard trial and I appreciate her input and expertise. This is my first experience with a therapist. I tend to keep things to myself, but Kim has been a great listening ear and I feel comfortable sharing things with her.
I cannot say enough about Ms. Kim!! As someone who has used a therapist for off and on for 7 years, I just assumed it was all the same. Wrong!!! She has helped me more in the last 2 weeks than my previous therapist did visiting with him for 7 years. She is exactly what I was looking for and I would strongly recommend her to anyone! Great experience!!
She is very helpful and understanding. She asks the right questions to make me feel better.
