About Me

My name is Kristen Perry, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), practicing in Oklahoma for 4 years. I provide person centered treatment, therapy is about you and your needs. My job is not to fix someone, but to partner with the individual, couple or family to a resolution that works best for their situation. I practice therapy primarily from an Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT) modality. The ACT perspective identifies values that assist in making value based decisions rather than reactive decisions. Many of us feel shame for the things we feel, think, and remember, the truth is, we often have no control of those things, but what we can control is the relationship we have with what we think, feel and remember. I teach my clients to be an observer rather than a participant with past events. We can't change our pasts but we can create a relationship with it allowing us to grow past negative and destructive experiences, allowing us to feel more in control of our lives.

I am experienced in treating those with severe mental illness (SMI) in an inpatient hospital setting who are currently experiencing psychosis, mania, depression, anxiety, suicidal threats, attempts and thinking. My current position also allows me to assist in treating those with substance abuse addictions. I have extensive experience treating those with personality disorders.

My goal is to assist people out of their past and into their present in order to live life to its fullest. As a person of faith, I value the importance of spirituality in one's life. I also understand we are not just spiritual beings and also struggle with emotional processes. As I cannot work as a spiritual counselor, I can partner with you to incorporate your emotional healing with your core beliefs.
