Hello! I am excited to be considered as your Christian counselor and friend! I have walked with the Lord my whole life. At the age of ten I remember praying with my dad to make my trust official, trusting in the saving power of Jesus and making him Lord (or boss) of my life. I accepted his call to full-time ministry at the age of 16 and was later ordained in 1991. My scriptural motivation arises from Luke 15, the parables of lost thing. I follow the example of Jesus who came to seek and to save that which was lost. My hope is that together we can discover more of God’s amazing grace!
I have spent the last 25+ years counseling many diverse people as a minister, Army and hospital chaplain, and now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I hold a doctorate in management and three Master degrees (counseling, religion, ministry), but I also hold a passion for help people who feel lost, broken, abandoned, anxious, or traumatized.
I am deeply concerned for the well being of marriages and have lots of experience dealing with couples including those surviving infidelity. I also am a Certified Family Trauma Professional and trained in approaches that help treat trauma. Moreover, as a chaplain I am well acquainted with grief and loss including the loss of a child. My counseling approach is integrative, using aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Constructivist, Solution-Focused, mindfulness, family systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I tend to be analytical and curious. As a pastoral strengths coach, I will consider how to leverage the God-given strengths you possess. I also try to make the experience fun when I can!
I have been married to the same woman since 1992 and have three children. My wife is a social worker and often helped me conduct marriage retreats for Army soldiers. We live in Texas currently but have lived all over because of the Army. I’ve served two deployments to Iraq. My last job in the military was Family Life Chaplain where I counseled and trained chaplains to be better pastoral counselors themselves. For those of you concerned about matching personality, look up INFJ—that’s me!
I love you already and hope we can work together with the Spirit’s help to bring you victory and restoration!
