About Me

-Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

If right now is a time for healing you've come to the right place. Let me walk through this season of healing with you.

Welcome to Faithful Counseling!

My name is Laura Woods. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Honestly, I wouldn't be half the counselor I am today if it weren't for His wisdom in my life and practice. I currently reside in Granbury, Texas with my husband, two sons, dog and cat. I am very, very down to earth so please know I already accept you as you are including all the not to pretty stuff life throws at us. Just because you are a Christian does not mean your're not human nor does it mean life is supposed to be easy. For this reason, I hope to help you journey through it. I received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology from Kansas State University ( Go Wildcats!) and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. There, I studied a year of theology and have a personal relationship with The Lord. Incorporating biblical (bible based) truth into my counseling practice is key to healing. I am trained in EMDR, TF-CBT and REBT as well as solution focused modalities. I have worked in the mental health field for 10 years including jails, psychiatric hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. For this reason, I can come alongside you and handle your pain without shock, fear or judgement. Plus, I am the first to admit that I have some of the same struggles but through counseling have learned to "struggle well" and you can too. I currently counsel individuals effected by trauma, domestic violence and sexual abuse through a local Children's Advocacy Center but I see people of all ages. I provide counseling services in a safe, nurturing environment, and sometimes even fun environment where clients feel comfortable talking openly about their stress and challenges. I want you to feel comfortable being you, please do not hold anything back. Counseling is tough, but this is the place where you talk about the hard stuff. . I welcome the work of improving other's ability to cope and hope to empower clients to live more freely and express themselves more effectively. I am a solution focused, direct, "straight shooter" but I realize healing is a delicate process. I'm looking forward to seeing the healing The Lord is going to bring to your life.

My sessions with Laura were always relatable. I never felt out of place with her, but like I was talking to a caring older sister in Christ. Her empathetic approach gave me reassurance that all will be well, thus opening my heart to partake in the exercises she had for me to do. I highly recommend her!
