Lauren McGee

About Me

Hello! My name is Lauren McGee. First of all, I applaud you for the taking the time to seek the support you are needing. Seeking help takes courage. Many people are so busy helping others that they often forget to help themselves. I want to help you on your journey of getting the support you are looking for so that you can be the best YOU imaginable. Below you will find more information about my experience and ways that I may be able to support you.

I am a Licensed Mental Health and Counselor (LMHC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board of Certified Counselors. I received my Master's of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2015 and have my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Georgia College and State University in 2012. I also have a background in the practice of integrating psychology, theology, and spirituality. Throughout my experience, I have had the opportunity to work with adults in a variety of settings and dealing with a variety of topics some of which include anxiety, stress, ADHD, depression, chronic illness, self-esteem, life transitions, trauma, and abuse.

I practice an integrative approach that works with the clients to help them achieve harmony among the mind, body, and soul. I use evidenced based practices that are tailored to my client’s concerns some of which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused therapy. I also enjoy guiding clients in prayer and meditation as a client feels comfortable. I believe the client knows him/herself best and that it is my job as the counselor to provide an open and safe environment where clients feel heard. My goal as a therapist is to help create an atmosphere where I can learn more about the client's concerns and collaborate with the client on strategies to help reach his/her goals for counseling. I have experience working with clients from all different walks of life and various nationalities and family makeups. I enjoy using art therapy and incorporating mindfulness during my sessions as appropriate. I specialize in helping people with anxiety/stress, low self-esteem, ADHD, life transitions, and family conflict.

I enjoy being outside, traveling, reading books, and spending time with my friends and family. I have been married for 6 years, and I am a mom of a 16 month old son, Logan, and a beagle, named Kirra. I am a Christian and believe my faith is an important part of who I am as a therapist.

Lauren is a truly wonderful and supportive person to have in a therapist. Her energy is so positive and motivating, she is much like a loving mother keeping you safe but accepting you even when she might not share the same opinion. She is on my side no matter what I need or want to do and she does her best to be a guiding force and not take control of my life and choices. I am blessed for such a great therapist and I pray I have her for as long as necessary my healing journey!
