I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in Idaho with 9 years working as a psychotherapist. I have experience working with a variety of individuals and families of all ages, composition, and backgrounds, however, the bulk of my experience has been with sex offenders, sex abuse victims, domestic violence victims, and individuals/families dealing with substance abuse and addictions. I am experienced in working with multiple issues such as emotional dysregulation, trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorders, depression, anxiety, marital conflict, self-esteem and confidence issues, pre-marital and relationship issues, end-of-life issues, and co-dependency. For the past year, I have been working intensely with addictions and family conflict.
My approach to therapy is empathic and compassionate. Each individual has their own story and view and I encourage my clients to voice those. I provide a supportive, validating environment and emphasize that therapy is client-centered, God- and faith- directed, and the needs of the client supercede any possible agenda. I'm here to offer guidance, motivation, structure, support, spiritual clarification, and acceptance. I understand the need for God in the therapeutic process and encourage clients to rely on and strengthen that spiritual connection with the Divine as they work on healing and reshaping their present and future. I see my role as that of facilitator in assisting my clients to create the life they want.
My preferred modalities are DBT, CBT, spiritual-centered, and the family-centered therapies to address negative thought processes and the development of positive communication skills.
I applaud you for seeking assistance. You've taken the first step to attaining better mental, spiritual, and emotional health by recognizing that you don't have to deal with trials alone. God is always near you even in those moments when you feel utterly alone. I want to assure you that you are not alone and God is putting others in your path to help you through your difficulties. I look forward to building a strong working relationship with you.

She’s a very relatable and professional counsellor who is always very accepting and caring which makes it easier for me to be authentic, transparent and open. Her response time is very very reasonable and actually messages you back more than just twice per day. Her faith and science based approach has helped me through a lot of my issues. Leisa is a blessing.
Leisa is respectful and does not judge me regardless of the issues we're talking about. She provides practical suggestions and follows up on them.
