I am a licensed mental health counselor in Washington state and have 14 years of experience in the mental health field. I completed my degree in 2000. While earning my Masters degree, I worked in two different inpatient psychiatric hospitals for a year each. My master's degree internship was completed in an inpatient adult crisis unit that uniquely offered a Christian program. It was called Rapha (God, our Healer) which was made up of a series of group and individual therapy sessions during a person's hospital stay. Then, I worked for seven years at a community mental health center as a therapist and clinical supervisor. Our faith is the thing that keeps us going because God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. We seek His light together in the process of change and healing.
After taking a few years off to be a stay at home mom, I had a private practice for five years along with ten other Christian colleagues where we offered a range of therapies all as individual practitioners. I found it was my favorite setting of all. During this time, I attended training and was mentored in neurofeedback (a form of biofeedback) to assist people with a wide range of symptoms in addition to talk therapy. I would love to do this again if I ever find myself doing in person treatment. This is my second year with Better Help. I have worked with groups and individuals struggling with depression, stress, anxiety, grief, illness, and life change. Additionally, I have assisted people working on relationship boundaries, some trauma, and emotional abuse.
My style is warm and caring and thoughtful. I believe in treating people with respect and dignity, knowing our lives bring us to a crossroads at times where the path forward isn't always clear. We can look together at your goals and obstacles to pioneer a way through by prioritizing and taking one step at a time. I want to provide a safe space to hear you and help you gain a more comprehensive perspective of the landscape of your life or focus in on one facet of an issue. I will adjust my approach based on your preferences. My approach blends person-centered, emotion-focused, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, and mindfulness techniques. In addition, I utilize an understanding of neuroscience to help inform what is going on in the brain and how we can harness that knowledge to bring about lasting change.
I will work with you to develop goals that meet your hopes for treatment and specific needs in the therapy process. You have a central role in deciding your focus and collaborating the path forward. My role is to support you and assist you in making progress. Seeking out counseling is a brave move and I am so proud of you for taking this step.
I look forward to working with you!

Great therapist I learn new coping methods from her often!
Leslie is amazing! She is so caring and respectful and really listens to what I have to say. She really knows how to get you to dig deep to see the root of the issues. She has taught me so much over the last couple months. She has literally changed my life! I am so grateful God brought her into my life and could use her to help me through some really hard times and help me to see my full potential as a wife, mother and child of God. Thank you will never seem like enough!
