About me

Welcome! My name is Lisa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University and have 11 years experience in the Social Work field in the areas of child welfare, advocacy, prevention, crisis management and mental health services. My therapeutic experience has been diverse and has included work with individuals, couples and families of all ages. I am passionate about clinical work and have specialized in the areas of addiction and recovery, sexual abuse, domestic violence, trauma, and suicide prevention. In practice, I am committed to providing a safe environment for those I work with and I utilize Solution-focused therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness skills, meditation skills development and Systems approaches to tailor a specific treatment approach for each client. I am dedicated to advocating for social justice and attempt to foster personal growth and individual empowerment in others.

In terms of availability, I work hard to make myself as available as possible for my clients. I check and respond to messages at least once daily Mondays through Friday. On weekends, I do review messages as they come in and will respond as I am able if it is urgent. I also offer several different options for live sessions (chat, phone or video) and these are scheduled by appointment only- but I do work with each client to find a plan that works for their needs.

I look forward to working with you!

Lisa is awesome and I am very thankful for her.

Lisa Cooper and I communicate at least one time a week. She makes sure that she addresses each of my concerns mentioned in my response. She is always respectful of my feelings and guides me to investigate possible solutions that might help, rather than "telling" me what strategy I should use for personal growth. Lisa is very compassionate, experienced and insightful. She is always spot on with her confirmation of my feelings and my grief. Losing a loved one who died by suicide makes the grief process more complicated. I am so glad to have a counselor who "gets it". There is an old me and a new me, and Lisa is helping me learn how to figure out how I can navigate relationships and my grief so that I grow stronger and more mindful of my feelings.

I have met with Lisa only a couple of times but I can tell you that just in those two sessions my anxiety has gone down 100 fold... Lisa gets it.. Lisa has empathy... Lisa expertly responds with very pointed resources and guidance that is helpful and does not add to the trauma but lowers the traumatic effects I am experiencing in my current everyday life. I feel extremely grateful to have found her

Lisa is so wonderful. Truly the first time I’ve felt that a therapist has “gotten me” so many breakthroughs in the short time that I was with her before I had to change because of a move. Can not recommend highly enough.

I look forward to my session with Lisa every week. I only wish they could be longer! Lisa has an impressive awareness as a counselor. She often helps me put my thoughts and emotions into words when I am struggling. She validates and supports me without making me feel like a child. Lisa does a great job of pushing deeper with certain subjects, but not crossing a line of making me feel too overwhelmed. I really enjoy working with Lisa and hope we will get to continue our working relationship for as long as possible.
