About Me

Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Tennessee. I received my Bachelors of Social Work degree from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City and my Masters of Social Work degree from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a concentration in Clinical Practice. I am a seasoned therapist approximately 20 years. I utilize a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Intelligent Behavioral Therapy, Logotherapy, Spiritual Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. I identify as a Christian; I may attend worship services within a particular denomination, but I identify first as a believer and follower of Christ. As a seasoned therapist, I've learned that there are many people who are struggling with their faith, with their doctrine with their beliefs with their spirituality. Our present society operates with an overwhelming saturation of information, suggestions, ideas, demands, commands, etc. As Christians, I believe it is imperative that we prioritize and focus on the foundations and basics of our Christian faith, which the New Testament plainly puts forth as love, charity, forgiveness, patience and humility. As human beings living in a "fallen world" these can be very difficult daily tasks; we find ourselves struggling daily in some manner with anger, resentment, pride, and forgiveness. One of my favorite Christian authors, CS Lewis put it this way, and I paraphrase: "We are tin soldiers living in a fallen world" and "God knows what wretched machines we are trying to drive". Our world is filled with pain and problems, but as Christians we are asked to use a different eyeglass to see them, and be grateful for the positives and the promises and the joy that is our Christian faith. I've learned that many people may need professional assistance in exploring and understanding the thoughts and beliefs behind their behaviors, all of which directly impact their relationship with themselves and with others. There are many people who may need help in deconstructing negative, unhealthy "self-talk" that was ingrained in them as children, and replacing it with healthy, positive truth-based "self-talk". My expertise and areas of interest include treatment for Mood Disorders, such as clinical depression, anxiety and panic disorders, healing from childhood trauma and abuse, couples and marriage counseling and grief and bereavement.

She knows what she is talking about and reaches out to me often! This helps me because I forget and get distracted quite often. She is helping me!
